    Store dyes and Crown Gold dye cannot be used for research.
    Any dye that doesn't have a crafting recipe cannot be used for research

    Yes this is not a bug but is something we need to make more clear.

    Dyes with no crafting recipe such as the exclusive gold dye on vendors and the nithron store dyes are not valid research targets. This was a design choice to prevent a research advantage as higher ranks provide more research value.

    I was looking for a research Advantage :)
    Does dwarf crafted gear provide slightly more research xp? Due to higher dura?

    Durability is a factor in the calculation yes
