While i may think wow sucks, its launch could have been shit for weeks and it still would have been popular. It had an established ip behind it that was already popular and wealthy company behind it. Darkfall is plagued by the name darkfall and does not have a wealthy company behind it. A bad launch will ruin it more so than a bad launch for other games. This isn't some popular game that is going to bounce back as easily as popular and trendy games like a moba or theme parks. It's hard enough getting friends and other new people to even try the game, let alone stick around through any problems. I get it, I love darkfall, and most people on forumfall love it too, so we'll stick with it through all it's problems; other non-vets will not. We need to convince them this game is worth sticking around for. We need them more than they need us to survive.
The sky is falling! Calm down, noone is quiting because of launch day issues. AV's failure had nothing to do with launch day. Noone quit DFO1 because of launch day.
I've been playing MMOs for a very long time. I've seen many a launch day, and almost without exception, every single one experienced issues, ranging from minor to major - including DFO itself. While the OP has a solid basic point, it is accompanied by some unfair and extreme assertions. While it is true the conditions everyone experienced at launch were indeed chaotic, and acted as a form of global RNG which impacted the ability of some to secure their holdings, a wipe would negatively impact more people than the initial issues did. Today's launch was a success wrapped in failure, not a failure wrapped in success. There is a difference. Some people will not dig deep, will only scratch the surface, and see only the issues, and not the very positive things inside. Yes, to some, it will look bad, they will see only failure - but these are not the kind of people who would last long in the world of Agon anyway...for the rest of us, today was a victory, a homecoming, a very very good day indeed.
@Bloodscar Any chance you can move the Server Status thread to the announcements section? It's where most of my clannies who're trying this have gone to check (until we corrected them). So I'm guessing that's where other newbies to RoA are going too. Fingers crossed for the rest of the patching
They were told hours ago and we got accused of just looking for things to complain about, good ideas are seen as insults even when well explained. He thought it was a better use of his time to brow beat us than to just go "yeah makes sense" and just do it, makes me want to pull my hair out.
