Hello Agonians! We need to talk about enchanting. Enchanting plays a big role in late game gear, and is often crafted in bulk. However, it is a pain in the ass to do, since it has to be done individually. Enchanting items one by one is boring AF.
You kinda get used to it but it will never not be a pain in the ass. I bet they will eventually make it like all the other crafts where you just select the recipe and how many of it you want in a menu. SOONtm
or maybe just for gem enchanting they could let you just put a buttload of gems and the enchant mats that you want and then it just crafts all of them in one go like the current queue system does with everything else.
The developer said it need to be redone. Why isn’t it a priority is above me. Takes to damn long to enchant. Also borining not to mention you have to farm for everything all over the place. I thought they wanted to get rid of tedium guess they just over looked enchanting.
How about just adding double click the item to go in the correct space. It’s the dragging that kills me.
It's annoying but doesn't need to be a priority over other stuff. No player ever quit or decides they didn't wanna play because of enchanting
Only thing I want done for it is... Feed the stack of enchanting mats into the menu and then I can just keep clicking enchant and all I have to do is swap the items being enchanted so that I don't have to drag 5 times and only drag 1 time, until I swap out and do a different type of enchant. It is useful and simple this way.
Enchanting reminds me of real life fitness. Most tedious aspect of crafting. I make sure i have 100 of everything i need and i make 25 of each. If enchanting wasnt tedious, i woulnt have to bulk up so much. --- Post updated --- I disagree. You cant enchant unless you go on df spreadsheat.com
We also don't like the tedious interface for enchanting and it's going to be redesigned. The original design was for you to discover the recipes which is why the original game had the interface it does. With RoA going more casual friendly we want to make enchanting more streamlined however. There's not a specific timeline on this overhaul yet but it is on our shortlist to improve.
First priority needs to be "what will bring new players in and keep them entertained for a while," period. Redoing enchanting from the ground up isn't gonna make that happen.
it cant just be about new players being kept, it needs to be about keeping players period if we got 50% of the pervious pop back and never got another new person we would be super well off. Yes getting and keeping new players would be awesome but lets not forget and leave out those that stick around for the game to be better, all df lives matter.
if that were true we wouldn't have all the new players that we currently have, it is just wrong 100% as their are many other games with many players with a way older engine
I have no idea how many are new and currently active I know in the clan that I am in their are several that are new and still playing and I don't worry about that right now because I have 0 control over it. The game still needs a lot to be "ready" but it is fun and it has picked up and it does have new players. UO and many older games like it have thousands upon thousands of players and their engines are much older so comment like the one you made are just ignorant (no offense)
The difference with UO is they have a healthy population and are not re-launching their old game so theirs no need for them to try and jeopardize their current game. I should have been more specific in my previous post. What I meant by engine is that they had a newer engine (Dfuw) they could have licensed that instead and just add the good from the dfo but both teams chose not too. In my opinion, we will never see a healthy new player population unless some huge game engine changes are introduced.
oh I see so a game on an old engine that already has a pop isn't affected by that old engine? right ok I see UW engine wasn't new it was just setup different it was in fact the same engine. I would disagree as we already seen a pretty large population around launch of this version. Large in the fact the game is only meant to handle 10k or so players
