dude, it's an fps where you shoot spells instead of a tab target game. That is what bring people here, how can you be that out of touch to say sandbox? sandbox stands for we have no content but here's the sand, make the content by yourself
Perhaps you should learn to read and comprehend. Ill try to help "SANDBOX ELEMENTS" So we are clear the game is an OPEN WORLD , FULL LOOT, PVP That is why most people come it has fps yes and thank god but the mechanics are unlike other fps games and it has way different elements associated with the fps than most games. NO fps games have OPEN WORLD, SANDBOX ELEMENTS and FULL LOOT I hope I cleared it up for you some so you are not required to try and BIG BRAIN it again. Have a nice day. You can easily make your own content, people have been doing it for over 10 years.
I will go and make my own OPEN WORLD, FULL LOOT, PVP fishing game, where we can all compete with our fishing pole. I'm sure people will add the rest in the next 10 years
You are just jelous of my new fishing game, you can't have it, make your own content and your own game
I did make content for this game I ran a large guild of mostly new players at launch, They all came to the game cause they was curious about an open world full loot pvp game. P.S. With "SANDBOX ELEMENTS"
Some left due to pop, others for different reasons many wished the game was more like this combat path suggestion. Some felt they would never be good enough n got tired of getting whooped on. I did wanna see if you actually even understand the term sandbox. Sieges for example is sandboxy. It is a tool that allows the player to provide content to many people. Dueling is sandboxy in the fact you can do it and create your own tournaments. Roleplaying and the tools to role play are big ones also adding viability with specializations is HUGE in that respect as people can rp and be effective at the same time. I feel like you really have no true understanding of sandbox and what it means and instead have this fantasy kingdom theme park thought in your head. Regardless enough stupid for me today on these forums I have had more than my fill, thanks going out to Max and Sorrow
I dont think the combat system is garbage, theres just a lot of little things here and there that I dont like. And the same goes for many other people. Different people with have different reasons. But the 0 variety in pvp is a recurring theme. Some people want to be a 1h weapon shield tank, or bow mains, or water magic mains. But any of those are pretty sub par to say the least right now. I dont want those to be OP, but being less of a disadvantage wouldnt hurt for those who enjoy those playstyles. Otherwise I do mostly like the pvp. It has loads of potential and skill actually matters unlike most mmo's. And the game is still a more thrilling mmo to play. Runescape for example, nothing you do matters, and almost everywhere is safe. At least in this I can use the stuff I get to make pvp gear to try and dunk, and putting in more time for better gear could be worth it. This game at least has more entertaining pve than most, even if its a little aids. It has all the aspects of a random mmo you could want, with crafting quests and random stuff. Except its also a sandbox with open pvp. How sandy the sandbox is, is debatable, but its still a sandbox. And a main reason I came back is I think the road map looks good and am willing to support and play the game. where if I thought the game was just going down hill I wouldnt bother coming back. But if its not dead now and some day hopefully will have a good pop, its worth investing back into the game.
Air Magic actually works extremely well once it's leveled and it feels like it stands on it's own like a magic school should. The r90 and r50 cause your opponent to float for a second. Bolts/rays can be thrown in if your opponent is floating. Tornado is the mage's whirlwhind. Real easy to control your opponents movement and dish out DPS and it just feels good from a thematic standpoint to see yourself casting all Air Spells. Being able to wear robes and roleplay as an Air Mage makes it feel like it's a fantasy RPG whereas RoA looks like a sci-fi mech warrior game with a bunch of different colored lasers flying around. Oh and all of the lasers have to be nerfed because everybody gets everything so nothing can be too cool (like eye rot and pungent were). Wouldn't want anybody to make a roleplay choice, put on Black Robes, go deep into the Necro tree where they unlock a real eye rot that they can use as part of their draining/kiting playstyle, maybe even with a pet. No way that would be way too cool. Let's just keep eye rot on a 40 second CD for everybody where it's only used by deep blade guy before a melee push. Here's what should be done: 1. Wreck the current meta. 2. Mess everything up. 3. Pick one school for damage spells. 4. Lock useful utility spells deep into trees so players actually have to make decisions. You could go deep Necro for real eye rot but then you'll miss out on reflect/WoF in Arcane and that's just going to be tough shit. 4. Make useless spells useful like Ubergames did with Tornado and add new spells and spell effects (floating for Air Magic) so schools can stand on their own. 5. Fuck shit up. /signed I'm on board.
I agree about the thematic standpoint, which is the reason I'm on board with the upcoming combat changes that will do just this.
[ No man... I dont want a fight to be decided based on who you brought in your party to a fight.. restricting spells deep into perk trees will kill skill based teamwork in group fights.. Not bringing enough primalists to a group fight etc...etc.. balancing this shit could kill the game.. You think the elite vets are powerful now? wait until they've specialized into the most cookie cutter hardest to kill build this new combat path's update will bring.. but whatever, I dont think any of us really have any influence over what these guys are doing to combat... Eye rot first, They're coming for WoF and rays next..
Oh boy. Getting rid of WoF will have noobs winning 0 group fights. As long as everyone can crossheal, I don't see medium-large scale group composition mattering too much past WoF/come hither, which would be a must have.
Ive only played melee/archery so i cant really comment on the magic stuff but for the melee and bow im not sure this is a good path. Archery Aoes? Straight shot? Why not just keep it simple? I personally dont want to have weaker melee cause i put my points in bow..melee and archery is perfect..all they would have to do is remove destro and mage killer and replace it with a little damage boost over all. Im willing to try anything but as someone that has played destro ( melee/archery before destro was in the game ) for like 8 years or something i dont see this being a huge hit with the melee/archery players. Please consider this...this might be the school/class or whatever you want to call it that should just be kept simple. If its not broke dont fix it. Destro problem can be solved with just a little boost to damage. The more i think about the more im really not looking forward to it. This patch had alot of good ideas so im not hating on the thread but this is really not necessary. I mean AoE bow shot? Please please just consider a simple fix for destro..remove destro and mage killer and replace with something like 5% damage increase when using bow or melee..keep the block magic. Personally i feel this would be the best. But im one of your testers so i will try it then give my feedback. A+ on pros to armor.
SO I assume BPG will reintroduce buffs and maybe buff others in the combat paths system. Each little 'path' will get its own buffs or whatever. Am I wrong?
I think it'd be fine. It would allow for diversity while maintaining the sanctity of combat. I'd expect it to be a secondary benefit to whatever main benefits you had in mind.
