I would rather see you guys focus on ''us'' first and ''new players'' later. If you can't keep your current active(we all here, but not all active), we can't help y'all get new, good players and making sure they stay. This game is old and we are the pioneers afterall. I have seen new players: very bad at the game. Not as bad as when i started. I knew how to sticky-back when i was new. You guys getting new players that don't know how sticky-back at all when we are both holding the C-button: (no joke, i tell them to hold c as the first step. We train for 1 hour and they don't succeed). You guys need top fps players to keep this game interesting for us.
Game needs a way to reach more people. Im still at a point where i love and miss this game so much, but its so empty. The best times i have ever had in this game is at a fresh server where every spot is popping. YES its a pvp focused game but without sheep and goals for sheep to accomplish, and a meaningful pve element to keep both pve and pvp'rs interested it cant last. The discussion has is a fucking dead horse. Everyone crying for combat changes... guys its been done over and over, a combat change , then revert etc over and over which does nothing for the pop. That needs to be the main and only focus, content and addressing population and drawing people in and keeping them in. Thats the real critical part, keeping people IN GAME. Content, pve dynamics, challenging and rewarding features. Racial wars etc, a reason to defend your races lands etc. Without that i dont know how this "mmorgp" can make it in todays gaaming landscape. This game to me is still a jewel , but no one has heard of it. BPG has done alot of amazing QoL changes that needed to be done. No more dev time should be wasted shit posting forums or doing combat shit. Focus on stuff to attract new players. If it were me personally I would do a system like path of exile, wipe every 3 or 4 months and with that wipe new content for the next fresh server. It would keep it fresh, people would hug pixels less and the pve and pvp would be fun. plus people would login just to get that fun early game pvp where everyone is at a similar level. But then again what do i know im am not a game developer just my 2 cents as someone who played this shit from start to finish and has seen and read it all.
That's not what Darkfall meant to me and it's what it was supposed to be. This would only be acceptable if a second server was viable.
In progress. Dyes are being included with a few other things and the system is done pretty much. We have to put a few resources into loot tables and whatnot and that's things team B is working on. We have a new leveling system coming in called research that pushed back dyes. It's all going in together instead of two patches. Crunch mode lost track of time to post an update. I'll grab a few screenshots when I get a chance and post an update. Lots of new systems in this one for NPE, PvE and crafting we'll give a patch date once we get the bulk of QA done. With the nature of our development and resources it's difficult to give any accurate dates. We try to as we know the community always wants to know when but it's fraught with unpredictable delays. Instead we'll try to keep you guys updated on what's going on but won't give a date till it's basically done.
Hopefully one day after territory control, NPE, Economy are fixed. I'd also really like to see soft capped progression for both character leveling AND craft speed to prevent early game power cliffs/ blowouts, even up the playing field a little between the no life grinders and the newbs, keeps the hardcore from maxing out and having nothing to do, while allowing people who jump in late to catch up quickly because the leveling speed is fast and now uncapped Also stagger villages/ Sea tower loot. Maybe even reduce the number of high end mobs/ drops/ city mine rare ores for the first month and add them back in slowly. Hell there's no reason Leenspar Golems, Fire Dragon, khamset (for cobras), Demon, or Devils HAVE to be in on day 1. Better to start the game with TOO LITTLE resource faucets than too many. You can always increase it later. I'd like to see lower ranked gear used for longer if a relaunch ever happens. It would be REALLY good for the health of the game.
One thing I missed from seeing the discussion on the path forward is changes that affect the utilisation of exisiting in game resorces that are under utlized by the player base. The game has tons of stuff you can use, but most people dont use them because they are not the meta or even within 5% of the meta i.e Weapons, Abilities, Spells, Armour peices, 1 Handed and Sheild play style (range to low, protection of the sheild does not balance dps loss) Polearm (way too slow for pvp) Greataxe and Greatclub (slighly too slow for pvp) Sieze skill (useless) Arcane and Infliction type spells (scatttered amonst other spell schools not spell schools of their own, way to low damage) Certain spells not used because they either have no knockup, too slow a cast time, too slow a travel speed or just no benifit at all Metal chest pecies of armour (having worse encumbeance to protection ratio than other peices in set) These are things that could be tweaked (just a little and well tested) so that ways of playing the game that might intrest people are actually viable. It does not have to be exactly as good as the current meta (all spell mage, 4 metal armour pecies, greatsword) but within 5-7% of that would be great. Just add choice for new players. Its a sand box after all and if someone wants to play as a role they imagine they should be able to do so without being so far from vaiable its a joke. 1 Hand and Sheild using Holy Magic (Paladin) Greataxe with Earth magic (Sharman) Daggers with Infliction spells (Witch) Greatclub with Arcane spells (Templar) (N.B. The above are just examples off the top of my head)
???? Great clubs rape. If you put on a metal chest piece its because you're playing melee pusher, encumbrance doesn't matter for melee, the only thing that matters is how much protections you have.
