FACT: This game is always populated at relaunches. So I say we do Darkfall Seasons. Change up the game every 3 months. So 4 times a year. You guys LOVE playing with xml files, so why not tweak them every couple months for a new season. Rules: never wipe people’s homes, let them keep them for every season. Season Examples/Suggestions: - Season with Maxed toons with crafting locked, get gear from mobs only. Lock old bank for the season so people don’t complain that it got wiped. - A survivor man season where you have no bank and max out stats and skills to 50. - Pirate season where only land access is to small island. Add in pirate dens and towns with ship building docks. - No Laws season, everyone is red and no clans and no parties - Continent lockdown: only playable on 1 continent (zerg fights) - No magic season, add in Bandages to supplement potions - etc I’m sure a lot of you can come up with other ideas for seasons! (Save a copy of current game state so you can always revert and make people happy that they didn’t lose their banks)
The worse season in fortnite, its when they added crafting and animals. Horrible! In a strict pvp game, most dont like crafting "period". Df is a boring pve game where we kill sponges with 2 more alts A season with no crafting would auto be the best one. I would def come back for that one and thats it.
Darkfall Seasons are a good idea, but the 'changing the rules' bit is kinda dumb. I propose the following: Every 90 days, all holdings are demolished and go vulnerable. That's it, that's the idea. Think of it like Albion's reset day. Don't mess with people characters, banks, or houses. Use the land rushes to tweak resource costs and whatnot to improve the economy.
Im not gonna lie, I think the overall sentiment is that what we really want is something fresh to keep the game alive and interesting... With everyone knowing mob spawns, infinite bank supply just due to the length of how long the game has been running, there's nothing really new... Any suggestion like this is just another attempt to want something the game cant deliver... like roaming NPC's part of the original game's idea, that way nobody would know for certain where a mob could be, but maybe could track it, but again, just another attempt at keeping the game fresh, I would love to see this as a VR game personally I think it would be terrifying and neat, any gimmick to keep the game alive I am for.
3 or 4 times a year is to much imo. The world needs some persistence. Wipe everything Make clans/alliances/chat/market and so on race specific. Change the landtower to give free q5 to the entire race not just said clan. The fights for the tower will be great again. Give buffs to races if they own all citys/hamlets in their land. Ffs remove gold from villages and instead have it buff loot from local mobs or give some other sort of bonus. Drastically cut durability from armor/2handers to keep people farming. Staffs bows and daggers should be left as is. Also get rid of fast travel. No billboards runebooks or city tele chambers. Thanks
Seasons would be pointless without significant changes to the game b4 they even started and then content added each time there was a new season. Without added content every season the game would just get boring and I doubt bpg are up to doing that.
I've always thought seasons would be a great way to perpetuate the most populated and enjoyable portions of the game while also allowing for the game to be patched and changed without ruining anything. Problem with a game like DF is anything you add or change in the game will have permanent effects even if it's later changed again or removed. Seasons offer an opportunity to wipe for both the players but also the devs, and the game can evolve with fresh iterations after major patches.
I think this game needs to be reset every 4-6 months. Darkfall is not built for having endless hours/days/years of farming in a giant world. There is absolutely nothing in this game that can limit the stockpiling up of the game unless you dig really fucking deep and math the shit out of this game like EVE online does, but we can't here. So yeah, seasons are the solution to keeping the game fresh and interesting with new takes each season. I'd personally like to see a season with recipes. The idea behind that one is that everything crafted is split into recipes and given to the world. For simplicity sake keep stuff like unlocking whole armor tiers if you find an Infernal crafting schematic or lump all of the Q3 protection enchants into one scroll that unlocks all of the protection enchants, same with banes and such. Way too many uniquely named R10 weapons and 10 different protection enchants to be putting them onto low level mobs for the sake of it. Keep the R0-R40, the minor potions, Q1-Q2 enchants, the Chain-Plate equivalents and all of the basic items like normal. It would be good for the game IMO if a gearset like Plate and R40s was a normal rollout bag. But then just go wild with the loot tables. This game needs some rare loot to spice up the game. It needs a little bit more small victories. Runestones used to be something people valued but they got nerfed. Portal Shards were a great item to farm but they got put on vendors and devalued. Maps are cool but its the same fixed outcome of gold+enchanting mats usually. Q6 enchanting gems + scrolls on their release were probably the best things BPG has done for the game regarding loot. Loot is so stale. You know the fixed income 99/100 and rarely loot anything you weren't expecting or anything to get happy about. Imagine if the fire dragon is the only source of Q5 magnitude enchant in the game. It has something crazy low like a 3% drop chance. You might be the only one or one of a few people in the game that has that enchant. You could make a fortune selling Q5 Mag gems on the market, this is the type of stuff crafters and PvE players LIVE off of. Or you could sell the recipe for a huge payday. Or blast the fuck out of your enemies because they could only farm Q3 enchants and your alliance has Q5. Plus it would probably bring back some nerdscreams and dopamine hits if it drops. People might settle for the Q4 mag enchant that drops off the Blood Knight at a 1% drop chance, and is a little easier to farm but come siege time they'll shell out to get that small damage increase. Us crafters love stuff thats rare, low drop chance and has an impact in the world. People collect that shit like pokemon too. I love to have a full collection when I advertise my crafting abilities in world chats in other games. Anyways you could use all sorts of things. Land tower, villages, sea towers, trade routes, dungeon/quest rewards, rare rewards out of chests/maps. You can really spice up the world and peoples objectives and clan beef. That brings up another good point. City value meaning something. If something like the Chosen of Khamset are the only guys that drop the schematic for cobrastaff then you believe my clan might want to take over the island with an iron fist and people would be gunning for those cities once they find out what drops what. Anyways yeah. Thats my idea for a season. I think it would be cool.
ha ha ha they hide offtopic and only registered users can see it now, because of "dangerous" threads, such a FBI servants own roa
My favorite season of the game was the end of DF1. Pretty much everyone had maxed characters, it was easy for new players to catch up and gear was cheap. All we did was siege, duel and a small gear grind. I loved it but I know I am probably not the majority. Just don't have the time for grind and its just not fun not maxed with good gear for me. Anyway, I pray everyone has been well! Its been a long while .
