It's not punishing them for keeping players alive, it's punishing them for dying repeatedly. I don't have a preference for either option btw, just putting another idea out there.
But isn't seize easier to land than power attack? The difficulty of landing power attack was part of it's appeal as a decap
How is it RNG when it only happens with a skillbased kill shot and works every time? The one thing that concerns me about the way that @kilrain described it in the OP was the "over kill by 20HP" factor because requiring X amount of overkill to decap disproportionately BUFFS Destroyers AGAIN. It's already going to be a slight buff to Destroyer just based on the nature of the spec and the fact that they're naturally more likely to be in melee range for the power attack killshot. We don't need to further compound their edge with PA gankshot by having the decap based on an overkill requirement that Destroyers are WAY more likely to reach thanks to the bonus damage they get when hitting a low HP target who has a staff out. TLDR= If you're going to make power attack kills decap it has to work anytime the power attack makes someone's HP hit zero, NOT -X amount.
Was more so replying to the people saying give it a 10-15% chance throughout the thread. Decaps in general are also just dumb. Might as well add ranged gank and rez
They're both quite awkward and risky to use, I think which is easier varies from weapon to weapon. I can't go into too much detail because I haven't done any serious testing with seize for quite some time. Greatsword power attack is harder to land than greataxe and greatclub power attack imo, where seize stacks up, I'm not sure.
As long as there's zero rng and some skill involved Im okay with this Overall I never really enjoyed the system, but this could add some exciting moments with what you're proposing
I disagree young man: IMO: Whirlwind is a totally skilless ability. 360 degress, guaranteed hit, deployed on location. Zero aiming in it. It's cool though, and kinda has it's place in Darkfall PvP.. But its still lame. I think it should only be possible if a weapons damage is 1.00 or higher. And then it should be a skillshot too. I believe if that were the case, then the number of instances where it happens will still be quite few, but definitely meaningful and almost exclusively with 2handers only.
How much dev time would it take to implement? You've done a bit to remove rng not sure why you want to add it... I guess it would be interesting if it could only happened when at war. Friendly duels you decap someone they are just going to be pissed decaping is in and not all that other stuff that was supposed to be out already.
Also the decap will look stupid with half of the power attack animations, where as popping a dome with WW would look badass/ make sense.
NOT Whirlwind. Power attack KILLING BLOW. No RNG involved. Only player skill. Not over the threshold please. if you are killed from a power attack, you get decaped. Something new to combat that isn’t RNG but still adds skill element to play. Something to try out in test server and see if it’s balanced and fun. Also, give this kilrain guy a medal for community interaction.
Good discussion I agree on the whirlwind being too easy to land so it likely isn't a good candidate. The idea of any killing blow power attack and not the negative threshold seems good, it would remove the chance factor which makes this better IMO. Giving the more skilled side a chance to cut through numbers by utilising skill is one of the great things about this game. Numbers count but a skilled group can win outnumbered and that's one of the beautiful things I always enjoyed with the game as a player. Just make sure not to decap with the actual bleed damage from sword or dagger..the actual act of that first blow I can fuck with that.
I would like to see the debuff like @Frog mention+ the Power attack killing blow. There’s not enough penalties to dying atm. The Rez timers are super short and with back damage being so low. People just bombard dead friendlies with full health Rezing them with no real threat to dying as well. Something on one end or the other needs to be done.
I honestly like this u die u have a chance of coming back but must wait..I can see this working as well.
