sure, but when we have to wait for so long for patches its no shock that activity increases especially after a large patch . where they at now tho? activity is not booming my man so lets not dismiss things so easily.
I see some people are slowly losing their mind and comming up with the most insane idea's for a complete overhaul of Darkfall… Also everybody is an expert on why the game is low op pop. Let's think about changes that can help get the pop and game go up again instead of hangin and keep bashin on previous changes
To do that we have to tackle the main issue. There are so many of them it's impossible to focus. But, like everything in life it has a beginning/foundation. I'm sure if we brainstormed a bit with constructive arguments and theories we'd get somewhere. Not that I'm calling you out, as my quoting you would suggest. We're all guilty.
it's not complicated at all. have a spell book with 10 slots. chests, barrels, air drops, etc will drop a spell sometimes. you think the gaming community can't shoot an exploding charge? or fathom why eye rot is a good spell? any player can equip a great sword and swing, there is no skill in df melee. you literally just left click and swing in front you. oh! you've looted a major health pot? I wonder what that does! wait... hrm a spell called sacrifice i can use to heal people, this would be a great spell for squads! maybe I shouldn't hold on to it for solo. archery is just bows and arrows, lol. let's not forget armor! an infernal helm is clearly better than a cloth helmet, it's straight forward and easy to comprehend. the game really isn't that hard to understand, now mastering the game is a different topic. also i'd like to point out no new player will hop on any of those games and have any chance in hell in beating a "10-year veteran" limiting the spell book could be based on tiers and maybe "dumb" down the game if you feel it's too difficult for a fortnite/pubg player. beginner tier only has 5 slots, journeymen has 10, adept has 15 and master has 25.
It’s cool and all but I don’t see it lasting long with no persistence.. I recommend freemium model..I think a lot more people would play..and I would go planet side 2 model..3 factions with persistence bases..city’s and stuff al ready there..I think the players now would enjoy the persistence a little more..than a 1 hour fight then over..problem is with any idea like this is the time it would take them to implement it.
When any content patch is released you're going to see a boost in player activity. Especially one that adds fast travel to a game that practically has none. It fell off though didn't it? Do you think if you added portal chambers back to cities instead of rune books, you would have seen the same population boost? Do you think you would have more population than current if you took that route? I do.
Activity has died down yes but people are still using fast travel everyday ,runs books, portals, chambers, and billboards...so the idea is working. Comes down to this for me...game has a pop like df1..no need for it I think ( would still help but people wouldn't care ) when the game has 30 active spread between agon fast travel is needed.
Bad argument. If people had portal chambers, people would be using fast travel as well, and the idea would be working. I understand that solo players and small clans need to get around the map too, which could simply be by getting your own rune network setup the old way. Increasing runestone drops back to DFO would have allowed more runes to enter the game and let that MINORITY have access to some fast travel. But let's be honest, if the options were portal chambers and no runebooks, that minority would have joined an alliance or clan and fought for a portal network just like the rest of the game. Let's not forget the devaluation of housing binds as well. smh.
guess it all boils down to what kind of game they want. Alienate majority of mmo players that do or might have interest and make this an arena type game and hope people take a liking to it or continue to develop and advertise the game as an mmo. The former path is a permanent move and game ending should it not pan out or get done properly. It is a HUGE risk to take, easy for someone on the sidelines to suggest with nothing to lose either way but much harder for a team to decide to chance. --- Post updated --- hah yes portal chambers and rune books took a chunk out of the already dead player base. Thanks for the Sero you are indeed a mastermind. --- Post updated --- hah yes portal chambers and rune books took a chunk out of the already I love it when people say their is no skill in melee. So you think if you had 10 people all with about = experience with the game in the exact same gear with exact stats etc. (identical everything) including ping and fps that those 10 guys in duels would not produce a clear champion or a close competition between a couple of players while the rest lost over n over every time to the same people? your so wrong and ya know what that means? their skill allowed them to out melee their opponent since that is the final determining factor. So people need to say that melee is skill less and while it has little complexity to it that does not mean no skill is involved
runebooks are great... but unlimited location mark are not. should have been 1 runebook of 6 spot or cash shop 10 spot. and ffs only 1 runbook per account not unlimited lol, i think thats why houses and city/hamlet lost all there values.
Stealable runes from library’s..only set amount of rune spots in world.. Raid ur now or to bring back more spots to recall to. Goes in library like nats idea.. Raidable stealable set locations...u want location find it raid it steal it bring back to ur library. --- Post updated --- Limit how many can be in library if ur worried about the n clan haveing them all..
Yeah, I'm sure if runebooks are nerfed people will come back in huge waves so they can conquer holdings because of their increased value! ...or maybe it will make more people quit the game, and those who still play will just use other people's portal networks since there's practically 0 risk in using someone else's network and the cost difference (compared to being in the owning clan) is negligible, just like in DFO when one clan owned 30 holdings.
Yea, it's possible, but does it detract from the issue that rune books as currently implemented are a problem? And in order to tackle that problem, changes may need to occur? (PS: we all know getting rid of runebooks won't work alone, which is why most people mention a relaunch, nor is it reasonable to request BPG to completely remove something they spent time on) Also, did you just say theres 0 risk in using someone else's network, and the cost is neglible? Lmfao. Funfact: The difference between 1 portal shard, and 2 portal shards, is 100% markup. Go tell anyone in economics/marketing/business that a 100% markup is negligible and watch yourself become a laughing stock. Let alone hitting system and hoping someone isn't in the city your porting from or to, to fuck your day up.
There are limitations already planned for runebooks with the TCS from what I've read. 100% of negligible is often times still negligible, unless you think 30-60 seconds of additional farming per port is significant. And no, as I said, there's PRACTICALLY no risk involved unless you port through a particularly active city and/or overstay your welcome.
