People will be voting on things pulled directly from the community, including players like yourself. We will not put up "troll topics" for vote, only ones that will have positive impacts on the game, including adding new things for people to do.
For implementing new changes to the game: 1. Seasonal server, something like: https://forums.riseofagon.com/threads/battle-for-yssam-seasonal-server.17306/ 2. Make any changes you guys think best. Just like raising a kid, sometimes you have to force your child to try something for them to realize they like it. 3. At the end of the seasonal server, then put up a poll listing all the changes made, and ask people to vote on if they stay in the game or not. I don't see how this strategy of implementing new changes isn't the best way to handle things. The put things on the test server and then put them in the game after a couple people used them strategy is not working so well so far. In General: I liked the newsletter. Thanks for letting us know what's going on. I look forward to seeing how the new territory control systems come into play.
@kilrain @MWTaylor Is it possible to add a polling system in-game? I believe that even though it would take effort away from other projects, having an in-game means of voting and discussion would not only give s more accurate community concensus, but would also drive players to remain subscribed because they want to be heard. I do see an issue with alt accounts adding double or triple votes. Perhaps an IP restriction for votes?
Cause AV did such a wonderful Job with Darkfall, so good they ended up closing the doors 2 times and sold the rights. Brilliant deduction Watson. --- Post updated --- So rather than discuss you prefer to get on the forums and cry? Well done Padawan you go get em --- Post updated --- your way or the highway huh? Doesn't matter the game died 2 times and that countless people quit because of combat the way it was. Fuck them all lets make it so the same 1 - 200 or so people are happy and the doors close regardless. Something tells me your not in charge with whatever it is you do in your life. --- Post updated --- your way or the highway huh? Doesn't matter the game died 2 times and that countless people quit because of combat the way it was Must be so hard to develop this game and deal with 13 YO adults 24/7 Kilrain is a di.... well nm that but holy shit. yall have 0 respect for people that are working for free to develop a game and to make it more clear for the less functioning folks in the world they said Moving forward they would work with the player base to develop the game. No where did they say they would revert and start over to make a dozen children stop having temper tantrums..
This is the plan, basic prep is being done to have an account specific voting system. It is planned to be in game or on the accounts page and pull from the same db. This will allow cross platform compatibility with a single database and options to limit voting to only active accounts, only accounts who have had at least one purchase or all accounts, we can also limit it by IP too but with all systems there will be the odd multi voting. Some polls will be useful to get a full spectrum answer, others may be specific to just the active playerbase, depending on the individual polls we can make those decisions. The creation of this is pretty simple and we'll be doing it in a quick and dirty way so it's not going to take up any real dev time. Basically while we are working on larger features and content creation(Which with our limited team is costly dev time) we will aim to fit in smaller frequent patches every couple of weeks with a focus on quick, simply little tasks. This will be focused on primarily bug fixes, QoL and small polish pieces as well as balancing and tweaking existing systems or the odd small feature, items that can be developed within a few hours to a day or two tops.
"create more diversity within the combat system. This has been one of the most requested things asked from us by community members over the last few years" No...it has not. The community wants relics and stuff like that for diversity they DO NOT WANT more combat changes unless it's a revert. Jesus fuck...Why do you guys intend to just keep taking Darkfall down this path when just giving us the combat we were promised is what we want?
like sintan said, all the people that voted on your road map quit long before you messed up the combat and defiantly didn't bring them back. I find it funny when you guys change something, that's your reason, the roadmap that people voted on. Considering they all quit before they ever saw anything they voted on changed. Put out a new road map and you will see a drastically different outlook.
I think what people mean when they ask for combat to be reverted is to revert it back to before it was messed with. Some people have different ideas on when you guys started tweaking shit. No one will ever know cause dest was adding shit that were not in patch notes...who knows what else is still lurking out there. I'm convinced when you guys did all the revamping of skills ( removing ip,rigor, some other random protects, ) making the leveling 1-5 thing is what messed up combat and sent it into the never ending rebalancing.act we have. all these tiny numbers these skills gave, and the progression these skills raised help balance the game. and you're telling me when you revamped everything all these numbers work the same with your system? No way. Just revert it back to when you bought it from av. You're ideas are great but like I said before you will always be rebalancing a broken system if you work on a broken system. If you start back to when everything was pure ( when you got the game ) you will be able to rebalance stuff with a system that has.proven to work.
I figured I would type a wall of text with a bunch of random ideas. Clearly my combat changes in blue are the best ideas evar. Vote for Quin as President! - Graphic enchantments would be amazing - Territory Control will be pointless Look at villages and sea towers, these territory hot spots are over briefly, bangers push out casual players. You literally need to have one territory that changes every week and can only be competed for by one of 3 Factions a clan can ally - Clan Platinum will miss the mark Looking at PvP currency in ESO you will notice that it will encourage larger zerg formations. Putting a bonus on groups and penalties on larger groups will force people to spread out more. Having spawns that turn off when 10 players or so. Platinum should also have a limit based on how well a city is built up and be something that can be transported by creating a player made Trade run. Unused Platinum should be drained off into either Chaos, Order, or Neutral factions. Order factions should have the option of sending platinum to Chaos bind stones that create order by allowing the clan that controls that area power over spawns. (Mob types, and intensity) Chaos factions should have the option to send platinum into cities allowing chaos factions to trigger an invasion style siege on an area that is not actively farming the local monsters. Neutral factions gain some extra platinum when platinum is banked - Resource Factories will miss the mark Factories like this need produce something that everyone needs. Like making Warhulks as common as a Car but forcing players to harvest fuel to use them. You shouldn't make an existing thing require what factories produce. Everything around them has to be new to work well. Lesser Magical Essence to make "Varnish" could be used to seal wooden items and prevent them from loosing durability for a few hours. Smash up mount figurines to make "A Glue Factory" that produces glue that can be used to restore some durability on items. Dirt to make "Black Powder Factory" Ore + coal to make Steel Factory Timber + Papyrus to make "Coal factory" The last 2 are too closely linked and would be a bad design when trying to add complexity. Giving common items more uses will increase the value and with higher value in items players gain more incentive to farm them. - Community patches will miss the mark You will just burn yourselfz out end up breaking more stuff then you have time to fix. I would suggest make patches that only tweak values and turn this into a game. Plan out 3 months in advance what you want to do every week and either have a Lore competition that explains it or write one yourself and surprise people. After each week is over it would just reset the values. Week 1 - Kobolds spawn 3x faster and drop Selentin Keys keys 50% more Week 2 - Dragons Stop Spawning - Chaos Chests 80% more common in Dragon Spawns Week 3 - Sentinel Nodes 100% more common, Dark Dragons take 50% more damage Week 4 - Ghosts drop Portal Shards 90% more, Ghosts take 20% more damage Week 1 - Seletine Keys turn in for 5x the reward Week 2 - Raptors drop 200 gold, and Candy Canes Week 3 - Krakens stop spawning. Fishing Nets harvest 500% more fish. Week 4 - Brownies spawn 100% faster, but no longer have ranged attacks Week 1 - Small Rocks spawn increased by 400%, Sulfur removed from NPC Week 2 - Pirates Loot increased 40%, Pirates do 15% more damage Week 3 - Goblins drop 5 Timber, Oak Lords drop 50% more Timber Week 4 - Lava does 200 damage, Fire elemental drop 8-16 Ruby's - State of Combat will get better over time I dont mess with combat, but If I did I would * Change WoF to block spells and push players away with force * Remove all blinds, screen shakes and add them back in as rare one time use gadget items * Increase Jump height * Remove Disable Blow, make parry a channeled buff that consumes 25 stamina a second * Make stamina regenerate 10 stamina a second *Make stamina / mana / heath capped at 100 * Rebalance all damage from all sources to so that 8 hits kill or 4 back hits. *Separate PvP and PvE Damage *Limit all forms of healing to 7 per second, and make all healing stack timers *smash my face into a keyboard until that strategy lets me beat someone in a duel. - Community Events will miss the mark Community events only happen when the community is board with the game, or so excited that they need to do something to organize large groups of people, to quell the chaos - Donation page will not be productive in the long run. This is a great way to get sued for fraud, if people make donations because they are promised something and don't get it.
they didnt remove those skills they just maxed them and made them part of your character so you didnt have to level them. at least do some homework if your going to talk shit to them.
Ya I see that, our natural 1.00 protects is from that right? All I was saying is that turning a leveling system from 1-100 to 1-5. Numbers will have to rounded up throwing how AV balanced the game into the thrash for the new system. I didnt mean like they were removed like vanished but like "revert the game back before they were removed" removed from the skill tree. The first thing done to combat was removing these skills I think. So the problems started here.
Clan Platinum - so you will add some pixel money and it sounds like you must grind for that, because of free siege equipment. Now "new siege weaponry or items only obtainable by spending this new currency." - it is a worst case scenario, because mandatory grind is atrocious. I completely dislike this second "currency" You already have gold. While Platinum is nothing else than farm for "tokens" or more grind. Now why do you need crafters if those new cool items will be available only with "tokens" ? To encourage people to go out - add another feature here. Idk exactly what it should be yet, but it could be something like overhauled UW collector . Resource Factories - sounds good. Control Towers, Remote Banks, Portal Disruption ? https://i.imgur.com/KU4ofSD.png It is good to hear about Normal maps. I am sure that designers could paint few maps for you. Old textures will look much better with makeup of normals.
Everything is 1-100 in the background there's literally no difference there except the frontend the client sees.
The clan platinum is designed to serve several purposes including boosts/power ups for cities & clans as well as a currency for purchasing a variety of items, siege equipment and possibly structures. We don't want owning a holding to be a negative with constant overhead to own it but we also don't want small clans easily taking over the world with massive benefits to a small elite. To this end we're looking at some minor upkeeps but moreso benefits that platinum can be used for. This will have an added effect of giving reasons to live and do activities around your capital connected holdings for the platinum boost. It will also give PvE and non-PvP focused members ways to contribute to a clan and help give more of a community feel to clans. This is a platform to build on and we'll be tying into much of TCS with it is the plan.
What about multiple characters on one account. Instead of having 4 log-ins, you are allowed to have 1 log-in but pay an extra 10 dollars a month per character, with an option to turn a character off to pause that character's sub time. Probably screw things up necause you cant login with the same account twice right?
