I think I'd be less salty if they hadn't said this was their beta incentive. Its an absolutely piss poor incentive for beta. It's just a list of things that will be available that should be available in every single mmo.
But you are turning in mysterious essence which you get for playing in turn for some points that you can spend in the store at a later date when they put it out. What incentive would you have preferred?
Some cool beta only shit cosmetic shit, like weapon skins for crafting, different starter weapon choices, maybe some emotes or something. Bonus med points on launch would sure have been nice. Something along those lines. Not here, have some shit everybody who has $10 in their pocket can also have.
We will have to see maybe they will add something like that, still lots of time left. Worst case scenario, you get 10$ or w/e $$ amount the points equate to.
We would like to have a cosmetic shop down the line, but we do not have the resources at the moment to implement something like that now. The Mysterious Essences will only be able to be turned in for points during Closed and Open Beta. This means that if you actively play you can acquire points towards your account balance that you can spend on whatever you want once the store goes live. This could potentially even include cosmetics if we are able to create some by that point, but we want to keep the choice on what you spend these point on with you.
Fuck the beta incentive the ability to have race changes and sex changes alone is a fucking dope ass addition. A+
I have a question. 1. Why not have them to use for meditation points as well? I know you said you don't want to have them purchase something in the store that could add to character progression. However I'll most likely sale mine so I can meditate for Character progression. Or maybe have every 2 or 3 essences become 1 meditation point or something along that line.
They dont want to provide people with an advantage at launch. If i turn in essences for points when live comes out that means as soon as i log into my new char, i can start meditating while people who didnt do beta cannot.
I'm not talking about holding the points into your account to use for med points. I'm talking about using the essences now instead of changing them over into the account. Have it where you can choose to put them into the account or use them for med points but not both.
ahh ok so u want the option to turn them into med points now for the beta instead of using them as points to spend later on i guess. If that the case then like Tuloth stated above it would have to be at a considerably higher ratio because you could just go kill any mob that drops 1k gold and that equates to all the essences you have at your ratio, probably even quadruple the med points than what you suggested.
for the asshat's who keep telling me to read the patch note's they didnt say that tell after i posted. So maybe you should not comment on shit before knowing the whole story?
so points you get from playing the game in beta you can use to pay for SUBSCRIPTION TIME AT LAUNCH and its not an incentive? also I know its hard to understand, but not everyone plays the game JUST for pvp. My wife plays and enjoys questing and the lore and would love to switch races around at a whim so she can do other racial questlines or live in other racial areas. Also if they implement actual RACIAL warfare and conquest instead of clan vs clan as it is now, I imagine people would switch all the time. Just like some people switched factions occasionally in uo when one got to big etc. Also skins for mounts, special dyes, tabards, cloaks could all be things you could purchase that people would go nuts for.
The farming it takes to get a months sub worth of mysterious Essence vs 30 minutes pay from working. Monetary incentive is dumb when we have to pay for a subscription and a package to play anyways. Give us cool useful shit, who fuckin cares about ten dollars. Edit: BPG also needs all the money they can get so this could be a real bad idea if everybody is just gonna stack up loads of mysterious essence and get free sub.
its FREE shit you get from playing in beta. Honestly the only incentive you are entitled to is the knowledge of all the changes they are making to the game ahead of anyone else who isnt in beta. like mob spawns scroll drops or all the other shit they have changed and or will change by launch. stop being so entitled. a month sub is a drop in the bucket for me too but not for some people. I wipe my ass with that amount of money but not everyone has a job, is an adult etc.
With race changes, will skills/banks be transfered or is it literally just a race change with everything reset? Same question with name. would love to have all my stuff.
