Great work so far guys. The scroll system especially and the new weapon and mount changes are amazing. I'm disappointed the single alignment plan, combined with 'alignment dungeons', is staying, but hopefully you guys can expand on that to make it RPG-friendly. Don't let the 'RPG' in 'MMORPG' take a backseat!
i find it interesting it says weaponsmithing is done... is it supposed to take a crap ton of R60s to get to 75 compared to the very small amount of armor in comparison? and am i missing the point of 75 rank 70s and 100 rank 70? seems like they have same base stats.
I some how missed the release notes about "all video shaders allow players to see properly underwater". This is get my vote as the best change to date! This is huge thanks guys!
I would just like to take this time to say that making mainland dungeons give alignment makes absolutely no sense. Why would one have to PVE in specific dungeons to gain alignment, but lose it through PVP? Its unfair for the people who live on the island continents or those who don't own a holding with a worthwhile dungeon nearby.
well they want people to travel (hence wilderness portals), you cant expect to just live on a secluded island in a holding forever
its a really big sandbox with a small pile of sand in the middle. If you want to play with the sand, you have to go to the middle like the rest of us lol.
well, technically..... if you live in one of the isands permanent, then everyone you meet will be grey as its lawless land. Thusly you wouldnt be red and would have no need to farm alignment. and not all the alignment dungeons are center map or even close, depending upon your race, some are right near npc cities.
ahh i see. I mean they could just say its a "local resource" based of mainland just like taint of khamsets are ruby based. But i understand what you are saying, i dunno maybe they could change it? But i wouldnt expect to be living in 1 place and having access to everything just from 1 little area. Wilderness portals should help out a lot. Also I'm sure their lore guys are working on that aspect as well.
your alignment is based upon the RACIAL FACTIONS. why would they care if you are farming dungeon monsters in LAWLESS lands?
Yup, exactly. --- Post updated --- Well there's a huge difference between 'this game doesn't have enough RPG elements so we're going to substitute our own' vs. the game actually having RPG elements that make sense. I mean it's like playing a game of pretend with your small social circle who all follow those made-up rules, but everyone else in the game has no idea what those rules even are so they don't play along. RPG is a lot more fun if everyone is in on it, and the game has mechanics to use to support RPG-like mindsets. It's like trying to play a game of DnD and one guy just thinks he's playing dice so he just wants to roll d20s all day and doesn't care what happens. It's the difference between giving us a sandbox full of tools to use to make cool sandcastles, or giving us a sandbox with no tools so we can't do anything with the sand besides think about all the cool sandcastles we could make and pretend they're there. (Not sure if you were being sarcastic or not tbh)
im confuse here.... what happens when you go red? you arent allowed in the racial npc cities! so you farm the dungeons in the racial areas to garner positive alignment with the "civilised lands" I didnt think that connection was that hard to make. Im sure it will make it into the lore and actually quests when they get to that if it makes you feel better.
Sort of sarcastic. The thing is, from an RPG standpoint you can think of these NPCs as being an opposing faction and we're gaining factions points back by destroying them. Yeah it's not a part of the current lore, but the lore is being rewritten. It's highly possible that we could find another solution that we like better and have to rewrite the lore to fit it again! Lore writers would hate us, but it is what it is.
Factions are dumb, but Regional Alignment like Skyrim might be a good move. In order for a human to gain permission to enter Ork territory they had to complete a quest. Quests with regional alignment would be awesome. Gain 100% alignment from one faction and gain new customization options or trade skills. Should add rewards for getting 100% negative aliment too.
