This wasn't really an update, but its good to publish your ideology to new members.
Most of the suggestion I make I try to keep the idea of "Minimal Effort for Maximum Results."

I'm looking forward to the "Expand" phase, who knows maybe they will had Pink Hair dye or community mod support.

 

Tend to agree with this, lot of text but doesn't really say anything that hasn't been rehashed as "updates" for the last however many months since you decided to not share your plans

 

I am a darkfall fanboy but I hate to say that was pure Aventurine right there. Lots and lots of words without saying anything.

It's a work in progress you guys will get better.

 

What wrong with map digging? Its was great in DFO like a mini game i allways gave my maps to a friend when i could not find them, he allways could.
Maps in dfuw was shit.
Map digging needs some bugg fix, maps on sea floor could only be exploted to get to (spawn a mount on the ocean floor)

 

really good write up Dest ... ignore the children with entitlement complex ... they lack the understanding of what is really happening behind the scenes .. how much work really goes into what you guys are doing .. to them it's all about, turning on a computer and feed me entertainment. Can't wait to see where you guys take this ... keep on the journey old friends.

 

I would not say this write up was pointless, but a lot of what was said has either already been said in previous posts in a different format or is pretty common sense. I'd like to see a post of the "actual" plans and "ideas" you guys have so we can have something to talk about in order to help out as much as possible. Doesn't have to be every "idea/plan" but some or even just one so there's something for people to debate about or even just prepare for instead of being in the dark.

 

Solid post. Nice to see things from one of the developers perspectives. Appreciate the information.

What A lot of these people seem to crave is a bullet point list of ideas. Essentially shit to theory craft, argue, and debate until the patches come out. Maybe throw in a few at the end of the write up. Granted then you get into the realm of "They said this and it isn't implemented yet" but it still is nice to see a general outline.

It can be a good mechanic and still get improved upon. For example, maybe they make hand-drawn maps instead of blurrying the actual map and just having a photo of the location.

If this continuation of pushing the release of the game keeps up, you guys are going to lose a vast majority of the community if you haven't already. I for one am getting fed up with lots of words to try and keep us satisfied, when in reality every time you give us a timeframe for when the game will be re-opened it gets pushed back. Yet here we are again, a post that should have told us the day of release. But instead a pointless post of things that have already been stated along this roller coaster.

There were many people who bought your Founder Packages with anticipation of the game coming by now because of the information you guys had provided at the time. It's one thing to give your community an idea of when the game will open back up.
But it's another to give them that idea over and over again. There is a fine line between getting things done professionally, and leading people on because of their false information. Had I known things would go this way I would not have given you guys any sort of money. Let alone gave your team $100. I can guarantee you I would have support on everything I've said thus far. Odds are I won't because those birds are long gone like I soon will be if things don't start going right. The majority of people left are ones who have more than ordinary patience. And ones who are just using your forums to troll.

I hate to see things decline the way they have. You guys have said in the past even when the hype was gone and the active online player count was on a downward spiral that it would build back up. But the thought process should be to keep the community you have and build onto it. Not be accepting of the fact you are losing some of your community.

I guess there isn't much else to say. This post is pointless really. I'm just another long time Darkfall follower who feels like he was taken as a fool. Anyone who feels the need to reply to my comment. Say what you will.
But the facts are, the community isn't hyped anymore. In fact it is just decreasing as things continue the way they have been.
Meaning Darkfall is that much more less likely to be what everyone wants it to be again.

Give the people what they want already.
DnD was able to do it what seems like forever ago already. Yet when faced with the same problem, you guys have still yet to re-open after months of working on the problem.
I understand the drive to get things done right the first time. But the is no reason you shouldn't be done by now.

The Last Update said "Not this Week" so most people will assume that Beta will start July 25th since a push back day wasn't said.

Its also possible that a Closed Pre Beta is taking place right now since the Dev forms are still hidden and the project has technically been approved to move forward for Beta Phase for about two weeks.

A would wager a lot of pieces are falling into place behind the scenes. It sucks waiting, but even if all the hype is gone it will be worth the wait

RoA consistently has hugely disappointing updates. You even hype them, you tell us to look out for them and it's nothing. That sounds like the bullshit essay I throw together at 3am the night before it's due. Seems like RoA is the true heir to Darkfall because BPG seem like the true heir to AV.

 

Yea guys, this update literally says nothing at all of interest. @Andrew made a post this past week about 25 or 35 of 55 tasks being complete and even though he didn't specify what those tasks were that single post had more information then the last 4 updates combined.

Just a suggestion but can we get a run down of what those tasks were or something to get some hype up. You guys shouldn't just bank on having some massive update the day the servers re-open and the "new" dev interaction that will come with the forums. You need some substance to get the hype ball rolling again.

Just my 3 cents because as always my opinions matter more then others. Goodluck and hope the relaunch next week goes smoothly.

 

Yeah, I was skeptical about how well received at this point in time. I actually didn't write it with intent for it to be an update, I wrote it as a forward-facing document that would just be on the website. I know it's not what some want to read or even care about in the now, but having a solid plan of attack is absolutely paramount for us to have any success in the long run. It may not scratch the instant gratification itch, but maybe a few can find value in it. As we've always said, we're not about blowing smoke. Blowing smoke would be much easier, but that wouldn't get us any closer to achieving what we are trying to do here. Waiting sucks, we know, we enjoy it just as little if not more than all of you.

I will say though that despite a rocky start and after some needed changes to processes internally, we are now working smarter and it's showing (although most of you can't see it, yet). We still have a lot of work to do as far as improving our processes in development and just as a team and company in general. It's been a large learning experience with many stumbles and falls, and it has been far from pretty or perfect so far. That's just the nature of the beast. But~ rest easy, we are determined. Luckily, we are x-Darkfall players; we have the ingrained perseverance and will to continuously get back up after being knocked down and keep forging forward until we win.

 

So why are you doing it then?

 

You have zero idea of what's going on 'behind the scenes'.

People should just take this on face value, everyone knows they have shit to sort out, when they have something new to report they will let us know. Don't forget they have had to wait on AV for some things...AV! They are not pros, they are a group of people with sets of skills and they are trying their best to make this work. Give them time.

 

Hardly an "entitlement complex", its more of a minor frustration (because i do have an understanding of what is really happening ) with how things are being handled, and why theyre being handled in this way.
