talking about some love.. think better about how to make holdings worth. DF is based in politics and sieges mostly.. actually theres a really low interesting on sieges because holdings worth nothing. im all in favor to bring back portal chambers on holdings. its an easy and enjoyable way to make holdings less useless than it is atm. (take note: portal shards even after 4 months still useless creating a doubt in the noobs head, item description said something that doesnt exist in game)
Idk if you guys know this, but games that utilize the dominion mode all have one thing in common -- you return to contest the "control points" within 30 seconds after death, not 30 minutes. I really don't see how this will be different from the current system, other than negating the use of spikes, hammers, and the occasional boat.
If your goal is to make vcps fun, how does sitting around for 20 minutes achieve that? If you make the gap between weapons smaller, and gear doesn't matter much. Aren't you taking away the incentive from capping the villages? Does anyone from the Dev team play the game? I feel like there is a hard disconnect between what your clients are experiencing and your sprints. If you look at all the complaints and actually try to cap these villages, you would see the following. Issue 1: It takes a long time to prepare and travel to these (upwards of 45 minutes). Name a game where in-order to maybe get a fight, you have to travel 30-45 minutes? This is disastrous... honestly think about this, who has the free time for this? Issue 2: The gold split and mats aren't worth the effort, this is mainly a pvp hotspot type deal. Issue 3: These go live every 12 hours, so there isn't much excitement about these. What I propose: 1. Cut the timers to 2-6 hours, so there is more PVP. 2. Have people pay a portal shard and get teleported to the nearest bindstone of the VCP, that way no one has to spend hours getting there. 3. Set rewards as enchanting/house mats for these, as the economy is overvaluing enchanting mats, with the server is dead and people are hardly farming.
seems like eu players are being treated as 2nd class citizens here, who had the bright idea to close the server for up to 12 hours on a fucking Friday night you useless twats
8-12 hours? For a prod service to be down? Are you guys redeploying somewhere new? Swapping boxes in current dc? What is the biggest blocker/time sink for your patch deployments? Maybe I can help somehow.
We didn't have any choice in the matter. This EU person here is the one setting it all back up on a Friday night.
I play from Australia. Server down is 9 pm my time every night. Literally 30 minutes of the time I have to play most nights is server downtime, and I'm not bitching about. They had to do it sometime. They're not running a Minecraft server off the laptop here. Do you really want them to pay after hours rates to get their servers up and running?
well each to there own but I'm paying for a 30 day subscription and I am bitching , make it f2p and I wont bitch
Do it during business hours = free, included in managed services plan Do it after hours = 100's of subscriptions worth of money to pay someone to work on the servers for 8-12 hours after hours
This is probably the best possible implementation. Timers are a big turnoff for people who want to jump into the game for an hour. There should always be an active village at any time of day.
