Some people just want everything for free. It's only $10 for an entire month. Christ. Support the things you like peasants.
People have to pay for esthetics things not for bank space. This an old hard game so why more hard things on it? Noobs will run away like all my friends.
Why not just give it all away then? Wouldn't want people to feel like they're not getting it all for free. Just make people pay to gets hats for their mounts. I think you've cracked the code.
I'll be your friend, just send me a friend Request in game. Then all of your friends wont have run away.
Noobs will have trouble filling 500 spots, and when they do, it means they like the game enough to buy a GTT off the IN GAME MARKETPLACE. HELLO?
Yes but for a noob make 130k is not easy, and you forgot that in this game you have to train months to have fun, because for now a noob start in a empty city of an old game, stop. And we need people, I think that this kind of freemium will not help the population to grow up. Watch UO forever only shop for aesthetics things, housing ext... And it works perfectly! I think that they have make the same mistake of mortal online (infact after freemium they have the same 80 people playing... YEAHhh) . They have to make a world full of people then they can make real moneys by shop! --- Post updated --- Thanks! For now I can find people only at 5am until I will die..... I'm not US.
The only real limitation of freemium is bank space/home ownership you can do anything and everything a regular player can do. Skill gain speed is so fast now days its not even funny even on free accounts.
Yeah true but why push people to pay monthly ? I think that you have to push people to buy idk something like yellow infernal horn helmet and things like this, and more money will come. I think that premium have to be a choice not a forcing, and 500 space in bank will push people to monthly subscription, and I think that will be very difficult to find 1000 people that will pay monthly for this old game. (and 1000 people for this map are not enough)
We don't have enough income off cosmetics alone to make it work..Not only that not everyone cares for cosmetics Some people are willing to pay for convenience, some want flashy stuff, some people want power. Buy 10 bank extensions and you have the same bank as a premium account. There are currently 20 for sale right now at 30k a pop. GTT Tokens right now are roughly 135k a pop. Most of you vets can farm that in a few hours.
it really comes down to BPG being a business and businesses are in business to make $. This is not a BPG model it is a real world model and one that most games employ.
Cosmetics will continue to be added however we don't want to get in a model where we have to focus most of our Dev time to making new types of cosmetics to keep paying the bills. Premium conveniences at a reasonable monthly price will encourage a regular subscription for the average long term player. That allows us to continue focusing most efforts on new features and content, not just cosmetics and fluff. We will continue to add more to the store endlessly but it will not be the main focus as content, fixes and improvements to the game will always be our primary focus.
Il respond to this just for fun. Its 10 cad per month. I'm from canada so clearly, if i dont pay, it has nothing to do with money. I used to spend so much money on yugioh as a kid because i was playing it on a daily basis anywhere. I dont pay because i'm quite unhappu with the state of the game and i work during the day. I wish the game was more friendly for free users for a chance to find more players on my time. I could pay to play df 120$ per weeks if i wanted to to reach the highest point you can reach as a supporter.
My experience starting fresh as a f2p.. leveling is actually pretty decent. I know it will take some time before I can get involved in any pvp or anything like that but as a new player having to take time to learn the ropes against tougher creatures is a good thing. For returning DFO players this could be the reason they don't stick around, they are older and don't have as much time as they used to. PvP is the goal for them and if it takes a week of at the very least a few hours a day I have my doubts they'll stick around. I think a cash shop item that's very costly for certain skills/schools might sway them. For the grinder (people with a lot of time) or new players the time it takes really isn't all that long. Inventory space is a pain, again more money can be made through cash shop for this for people unwilling to pay subs. In all, many of the restrictions that f2p faces should be possibly overcome with cash shop items that alleviate some of the pains of not paying a sub. They should be a lot more expensive than a GTT for the simple fact that they are forever or at least a decent amount of time. Another idea might be to make weekly or biweekly subscriptions. All of those microtransactions add up and with the money bags stocking up on them to sell them in the market, plenty of new players would basically be supporting the game without actually spending money. Basically make as many QOL cash shop items as you can and money will come in. Are cash shop mounts in? ESO makes a fortune with those.. in truth, the game itself needs to be enjoyable. This as you've said should be your main focus.
