Cool stuff Andrew. Hopefully there is an actual plan in place to balance the economy out and bring value back to owning territories and all the stuff that got jacked up with monster loot being retooled. Otherwise we'll probably be back on this road in a year with everybody having full banks and nobody caring about holdings/monsters.
None of these are complete? Almost all of these are still under 'early implementation' status, are they not? Also some other things like the new Clan pages and Glyph system. A lot of them have had a lot of suggestions to improve them too, throughout the previous years. Well that was completely avoidable to begin with - and I dont mean that like an "I told you so" type of comment - but as far back as late 2019/ early 2020 when some of the earliest complaints came in, it felt like it wasnt taken seriously enough. At no point since, has the notion of turning villages off been entertained... Not even when population dips (when the damage compounds) There's a feedback channel pumped of ideas and suggestions for the game that already exists (not all good, but certainly more good than bad, and a lot of them arent asking for major changes) 6-9 months to really get the game polished out for new players? That feels ambitious but I hope its a target you can hit. Definitely look forward to it. You should have an internal record of all accounts who've purchased GTT's - accounts that are in good standing. Reimbursing/Honouring the financial support / intent to support would surely be a better option than rewarding an ultra millionaire hoarder like me who vacuums up all the GTT's? Everyone at some point has bought one I'd say, so why not have all of your veterans start off the new game with some Nithron coins, rather than just a few. It doubles up as a loyalty reward almost. --- Post updated --- I dont think there are as many "inherent issues in the game world" as you think. I think they're not in the game or the code, but rather the decision making process with regards the direction things were headed at a given point in time. There always felt like there was a certain level of inflexibility whenever it came to retrospective actions/changes. I know its mostly due to a lack of manpower vs a massive list of things we'd love to add to the game - trying to keep moving forward always and make 'bang-for-your-buck' changes. There are still so many avenues for creative solutions to problems, that just dont get explored (which I personally find frustrating, because saying you're just going to wipe is also saying "yeah we fucked up, so lets press reset and see how it goes" - acknowledging that things opportunityies were squandered) Population dropped off before it came to light - but look at Stone prices and the effects the maintenance changes had (eventually..) It took a year before surplus stone got drained from everyones banks. So.. I hope the feedback threads are productive going forward, and I'd ask that you guys make your interactions count.
Please consider translating RoA's Quests and Tasks into tons of Steam Achievements. Part of being a Steam player is being able to represent the games we love (like RoA) via our Profiles, etc. Anything you can do to elevate our ability to celebrate and represent RoA to the greater Steam community is welcome! Best of luck with this.
Lol, you can be serious. This game is lacking on so many things; in fact you removed content and entry-level PVP by making everything ARAC...the game didn't get updates for years, no new content(Dyes aren't content its fluff). Still no land towers to capture for PVP. I have a hard time believing that many people will play or if they do the retention will be terrible.
You're two years behind updates Fresh server is a fresh server, none of this BS transferring tokens or anything across. That what the legacy server is for!
Revert Billboards back to Capital Cities only on your Steam Lunch. Was the only build I actually had fun play the game with random people.
This post/update makes me want to cancel my recurring subscription honestly. A childish comment I know. Dueling to get good at pvp is the real grind in this game. I do not want to grind the stats or skills that are necessary for pvp for months so that I can be on an equal footing with others. Gear grind, crafting grind, and resource grind I am fine with but not stats/skills . If I literally have to sit at a mobs for days/ months to make an account just so that I can participate in the only good aspect of this game (pvp) I will just unsub. Releasing a new server is a cop out to get new players that will quit once they realize they suck at pvp and others are better than them. You do not lose fights in this game because your fireball wasn't leveled enough you lose because they were better than you. This will take some time for new players to realize but it is the hard truth. You cannot grind your character to make up for your lack of skill. Once they realize they suck they will try to find joy in some other aspect of the game to pass the time but they will see that there is not real content to enjoy instead of pvp. Thus the cycle of population decline will begin again.
The thing that you are forgetting and that some others seem to forget is that character and gear grind are the main 2 things that cause pvp to happen in Darkfall, also that full loot is an important part of the pvp so the more value gear has the more risk vs reward there is in the pvp itself. Also if players are similar player skill level, char stats / skills and gear make quite a difference.
Should've spent the last 5 years making a new Darkfall in Unity or UE4 if Steam/New players was the end goal. Think this community needs a solid dose of the red pill...
