You make a statue of a wolf sticky backing a mid-flop human male and I’ll pay big money for that.

    Congrats bpg!

Congrats to you guys. You've come a long way and shown a lot of resilience through the hard times, something you make no attempt to obfuscate in this write-up. The whole DF revival concept has been an insane journey for all involved and honestly, as things stand, I would even say you've emerged as the frontrunner for which iteration has a chance at making it. I've also always appreciated how you guys run your community and make it feel lively with what you have to work with. Keep it up. Future is still very uncertain for all involved, but look forward to seeing what's to come. Cheers.

Dam to be honest i Thought it was a lot more then 2000 concurrnt at launch. That is a very low number for any launch. Makes me think that now is only about 150.

At least now you guys admit of releasing to early, I have no clue why. A lot of us told you not to do so and i think that it will hunt you down until the end. But that is my own opinion. You guys should of learned from all the other Darkfalls but you didnt. We all new the Launch would dictate the Future , and now we all know what that holds.

I really hope you guys turn this arround and find new Blood, Because you prob will lose all the old player base with changing the combat.

Anyways Good luck with all! Hope all the Best for you guys and Happy Annyversary!

That post was kind of demoralizing.

You should not tell people your still in a finical crisis and rely on volunteer support.
If things are that bad you should prob run a nonprofit business model to get massive tax cuts and discounts.
You should also negotiate down the server hosting fee about 80% of what they originally pitched you.

When I worked in the Shipping industry we negotiated the shipping fee down 87% so that the shipping process would become a mini business and generate money rather then subtract.

I know I don't really know the details, but this update tells me either the game is either too far into debt to recover or someone is mishandling money.

That is all the feedback on the issue I can offer. Hopefully you guys can figure it out before the hype about Conquest dies off.

*Add* I also wanted to let you guys know that one of the selling points I was trying to make for the game was that it was doing better financially and you prob just shot yourself in the foot.

Because you need money to continue development, are you really that fucking dense?

They might lose 5 players because of changes, and those people don't matter. If you pay actually pay attention to what's being said by all players and not just the comments you like then you'd realize how shitty your assessments are.

Grats on one year and all the progress that has been made! People don't realize how much it costs to run something like Rise of Agon let alone the amount of stress and time involved. Here's to another year of progress and keeping our dream alive!

Its been a rough year. I've been too busy to play because of work, but haven't canceled my subs. You guys are definitely picking up momentum. Keep up the good work!

Shout out to all the volunteers. You guys are the real MVP!

Cant wait for the donation page to come out. Can we get a donation goal to release squanto from death row??

So how bad is it? You spend all launch money on hookers and blow? Should of spent it on bitcoin.

Fix the game for as long as you can on the current subs

When you're about out of money and have improved the game and FIXED fundamental flaws such as lack of SOME kind of progression, excessive loot faucets, lack of gear sinks, lack of time gated crafting at launch, lack of territory control/ political tools

Announce the server is shutting down and will be wiped

After shutting down and wiping announce an open beta that will last 2 weeks and make it TOTALLY FREE

Announce that the game is Free to play but with some minor annoying restrictions that can be removed by paying for the full version (I can go over suggestions with you if you want). Cost should be a one time payment of $19.99-$29.99

In the announcement include narrated videos explaining what changes have been done since DF1 AND the Original RoA Launch

During the open beta announcement say that everyone who buys the full copy gets a 3 day weekend head start (this kind of shit drives sales like crazy)

Expand the cashshop including "limited time or quantity sales" on certain expensive items

Launch with ONLY Mainland and in my opinion the game needs built in 3 way realm vs realm whether its racewars (which IMO makes the most sense) or factions that you choose at launch and can only change through use of a cashshop item

NEW players and tons of other players really need that realm vs realm so they can go do fun stuff with people OUTSIDE of their guild. RoA is still waaay too anti-social for an mmorpg

There's no way this game ever gets a thriving population WITHOUT fundamental fixes and a wipe 6-12 months from now

You're kidding yourself if you think otherwise

Certain people and clans are WAY too rich and powerful

I have seen this not only with past Darkfalls, but with other games as well there's a point where someone "wins" and everyone quits and no new people want to join because they know they'll just get crushed

And of course there is the benefit of the MMO locusts every time a game wipes or launches or adds a new server

We launched for a variety of reasons, including our initial investments running low and being overoptimistic as to how the game would be publicly received.

The latter is something we have learned our lesson on, which is why we made all of the changes over the last year to our development road map and workflow. However, the reality is that the initial funds we ourselves invested (and the funds we got from Founder Packs) were running low leading up to launch as we had been paying for server and development costs for well over a year at that point.

I do want to stress that we are not in danger of closing down, the issue is we are in danger of having to slow down development with our two full-time programmers going to part time. The pace we have been able to maintain is largely due to not only their talent, but their dedication of putting in way more hours and work than they are actually paid for.

Neil handles more the server operation, back-end tools and website among some smaller game tasks. TJ is responsible for the majority of ALL game changes and also contributes to the art and asset side of the project. We have three other long-term volunteer developers who add a lot of value (Teemu, Sean and Jesse) who we unfortunately cannot afford to pay at this time.

Our goal is to continue this trend of increasing our monthly revenue so we can pay the two full-time developers on staff, along with getting the other developers and our lead artist Sean on our payroll too. We took a big hit after the first few months of launch but have stabilized our income from the low points of last year. The trends have all been positive since December of last year but financially we are just shy of where we need to be to keep up the current pace.

    What does this all mean?

    - if we maintain what we are making each month and see no increases, development will continue but the pace will likely slow down as TJ/Neil/others will have to find additional work outside of the project
    - if we can increase our monthly revenue by roughly $10k between donations, Nithron Coin Shop purchases, and an increase in subscribers, we will not only be able to maintain our development pace but will be able to increase it

You guys are doing a great job as far as I'm concerned. Special Thanks to all the volunteers supporting RoA.

Suggestion: If I were you I'd email a trial account key to every past and current subscriber, with some kind of Nithron coin bonus if the trial key turns into a subscription.
Also you need to have more free weekends where people can check out RoA. This is what pulled me in, and it will pull others as well, especially amongst ex-DFO'ers.

What we're actually going to do is activate the free trial system, but need to get a few modifications in place first. Then we'll be able to leave it open for anyone who wants to test it out rather than requesting free time.

A grade post. Seems like a really good future for the game, hope it does well. Glad they are adding a little more specialization for pvp to break it up. One of my biggest beefs with darkfall games was that everyone does the same exact stuff. Like in runescape. Everyone is a maxed mage hybrid or a destroyer. Some more variations would be nice for those who enjoy being a little more specialized.

Out of curiosity I would love to know what the average or peak daily player count is. Cuz we know release was over 2k. And I expect nothing close to that. But they did say it has doubled since market patch, which is a good sign.

I would love more f2p. Me and my friend were looking at coming back to the game but the 24h game time we got for not playing in ages wasnt quite enough. We didnt even get to play and theres no way I was going to grind out enough gold to buy a sub token from the nothing I had. Especially as a not in a guild yet red. And joining a guild and moving and farming and trying out how the game is now is pretty hard in under 24h.

We are thinking about just re subbing anyway even tho we cant gtt now but it would be nice to get to play the game for a bit to make sure we want to come back. It would prob bring back a lot more people too.

it was 2k concurrent... that is not daily count.
