I definitely think mages need some love with all the buffs destroyers have received, but forcing us to use multiple staves is just bad. One of the biggest complaints I have received so far from newer players is the amount of binds involved, and these are people without 50 spells to bind yet. So now I'm supposed to carry a handful of fully enchanted staves everywhere and have them all scripted to use for particular schools in order to keep up with the joneses? No thanks. Please stop making blockbuster pvp changes that aren't needed. Make smaller, smarter changes. People play this game for the pvp, there is no need to try to reinvent it when it is already the game's strongest draw.
Emphasis on 'should'. Unfortunately that isn't the case. I wouldn't consider the game playable with shadows on at the moment. It gives me terrible input lag and my machine is pretty new and high end.
Is there a way to manually set resolution before entering the game? For some reason I'm loading into the game borderless but at low rez and I can't access the menus to change to windowed/full screen at higher resolutions. I'm playing on a 4k monitor and would just like to edit a config file to set a resolution manually for now.
In the lobby at the bottom left there is an options tab where you can choose from a small list of resolutions for the game to load up in. That should fix the issue.
Just make so if you bind a staff and an ability to 1 slot than clicking that slot puts on the staff and puts on the ability (or insta cast if set that way etc) in 1 click because right now you have to click 1 time for the staff than another time for the ability making it clunky. Because this staff change does add more for a mage to have, but helps equalize the costs of gear bags between mage/destro.
Our goal is to not force tedium, it's to provide choice. Previously there was none by in large as far as staves go. If it turns out people feel the need to carry a bag full of staves instead of choosing, then we will address it.
isnt this already in game? you can set whatever hotbar you want to come up when you select your staff, unless im not understanding you here? also id prefer if they could force a way for the staffs not to work with quick switches so that all the "competative" players would be forced to pick one staff and roll with it. this combined with the specializations they have talked about for elemental schools could mean not EVERYONE played the same way even though they had all the same spells.
You guys might really benefit from being more up front with your customers. Your actions are pretty toxic.
lol you guys are such babies and if your group of 20-30 left the game would thrive all the more. just saying, back on topic now that its all one racial alignment are you going to break the old "alliances" because it seems that alfar is getting the shaft at not being able to bind to anyones starter/capitals and not having the benefit of everyone being red anymore? edit: dont remove them telling me to KYS. leave it there to show everyone the type of character they have. It doesnt bother me at all in fact if anything i believe it lends credence to my ideas that those specific "gentlemen" disagree.
The GUI is actually really nice, even if it does seem to hurt the game performance a tad. It's very sleek and easy to see things. The upper and lower screen darkening gives it a 'cinematic' feel but it also helps to indicate when you ARE in GUI mode, instead of a couple extra windows popping up and you can see your mouse. That stuff really helps newbs because they are always thinking 'how do I move' and 'How do I go into my options?' and 'Why is this guy teabagging me?' - They feel locked out of much of the game because they don't know how to institutionally work it right! It is a rarer thing in MMOs. So teaching them is great. However... The textures don't look much better and sometimes worse, they can be flatter or just ugly. Performance is worse. My mouse sensitivity is smaller. And your 'WindowedBorderless' is just a lite version of the real thing. The new staff system has ruined many of our staffs and we all feel clueless because there was NO DISCUSSION about this change leading up to the release. What happened to the 'Developer Design Discussion' forum? Why did we not have ANY impact on this decision? We are the players, our opinions are important if it affects the game, and as a company that is built of ex players, we thought you'd understand that. I am really disappointed in you guys. Also, your team jumps on to other clans discords and teamspeaks and openly talks about future changes while only withholding some subjects. A lot of them are clan members but some get around I hear. So certain clans are holding this information and sometimes being prepared for them OR they feel guilty for sharing the information given in confidence and lose their friendship (Like I'm probably doing now, hey Taylor and Red!) and this sometimes leads to shitty design because they can't speak out publicly and only to the one guy. I did know about some of this patch, like the new textures and the new GUI, but I didn't think it a big issue to pressure them into speaking openly about it, like the staff change. But some people knew, and they didn't because of the reasons I listed, they are friends or clan mates and can't break their trust. The race change issue was talked about and some people did input their opinions and pointed out many flaws, but they did it anyway. Seriously, just COMMUNICATE your design ideas more with us as a community and not just a select few 'special' players you guys know.
I mean the new staffs/swords is definitely content. You can't be salty just because they havn't gotten around to the specific things you want yet. Learn2beta
you staff patch still forces people to select a staff on only speeds and costs to make. I do hope that staff are actually getting more usefull regarding dmg output
Newbs love being able to attach a staff directly to a skill on DnD and UHW and I like it too just sayin. Does it take some "skill" away because you don't need as many staff binds and you have to press 1 less button? I mean I guess, but it also makes the game smoother and more intuitive and as a top player I don't mind giving a tiny bit of edge away. Especially if it means I don't have to third party script anything If some guy is crazy enough to risk 1 slow staff for buffs and rays and 1 faster staff for each offensive or healing school and 1 super fast staff for utility for not THAT much benefit why should we even WANT to stop them?
Sorry, this staff change is going to force players to carry multiple staffs to compete is ridiculous. Why don't you guys add content instead of working on pointless stuff. Edit being able to upgrade enchanting matts is awesome
What makes you think people that are serious about the game wouldn't carry a lot of staves? Very curious on the thought process there. In any game like this people usually always do what is best if they can even if it's a small bump in power.Stuff like carrying multiple poisoned weapons instead of re-poisoning it on the go and things like that in other MMO's. It's fine if it's easy to switch between staves but in our case for DF it's a pain that is alleviated by scripting.
The staff changes. The textures. Worst choices i've seen you make yet. GUI was nice. But the FPS Hitching on weapon fixes makes it trash too. This patch is 95% changes that need to be reverted.
I agree, before impactful design choices that directly impact combat are made, they should hold an open Q&A in a public discord
