I mean the response to Dest at the r70 change was childish af, regardless if you guys were right or not. But again im on your side in terms of them needing to discuss things first.
Balance has to be done for all stages. Noobs, right below average, average, good, great players. You guys understand it at the lvls of Good-Great. I doubt many of you really know how a noob/below average player sees things as you guys rarely ever play with them on a day to day basis.
Just an update on the FPS hitches people are experiencing. This is because of the new models on the new staves, this will affect Cobrastaves, Dark Gorgon and LifeStaff as they were all created from scratch or redone. It is known and in our back log as to the more specific reason and will be looked into. Sorry for the inconvenience.
I really think the devs are shooting themselves in the foot by being so secretive about their plans, it just doesn't make any sense to not let the people in your beta know your plans. On top of that by being secretive it means they are not throwing their ideas out into discussion while still in the planning stages, so good feedback can be gleaned for the actual development process and instead are doing it almost all in house and then throwing it out there to the players who have no warning. I made a point about this months ago and really believe this is hurting them a lot, causing distrust and a lack of confidence among their player base.
You do not balance pvp by balancing for people who have no idea what they are doing or using things to their fullest potential. Stop trying to act like i've never played with noobs before and you know how all noobs think rofl.
Something seemed off. I knew you weren't that rude.I hope it continues to go well buddy. That other almost imposter can diaf.
Where in the world did I say I understand how they think? I never said that once in the post lol. And you have to balance things for all players not just top tier ones unless you want the game to be left with only vets like the original DFO even if content is added. In other games where there are classes (yes I know this game doesn't have classes) there are styles of play that are noob friendly, high ping friendly etc and classes/builds that are better for higher skilled players. Can't just base everything off the best players. There are more ~average players than good+ players.
This staff change is a horrible idea without the functionality to bind spells with staves in some way and make it seamless... HORRIBLE idea.
If you can please record a video of this i can forward it to the devs, i was able to isolate the issue to being only with the new staves.
PVP BALANCE is not the same thing as economic balance, character grinding balance etc. The newbs who have no idea how to play should not be the ones they design PVP balance around. If they did, the best players would figure out the best way to do it still and we're back at square one after a few months of balancing nightmares.
much respect for your pvp prowess and also your knowledge. however, there is a pretty decent chance these balances changes will mainly affect a tiny minority of players. most of us cannot play opitimally or anywhere close, I've always wondered for a lot of players why bother getting a cobra staff over a blackbolt? I'm not going to hit anything anyway besides, there wasn't balance anyway, do you see people running rank 80 staves? or transmutes? or corpse callers? there was a "best", meta way to play for the most part. I'm sure you'll find the new meta and what's the big deal? league of legends changes somewhat every 2 weeks. a few more options and balance tweeks isn't going to kill the game... in all honesty (and seriously, no offence, but this is a reality), all the players you could name who would qualify to speak of balance as you suggest, the best players, could all literally quit the game and it wouldn't matter 1 bit to ROA chance of success. if new players or guys who only played a lcouple months of DFO don't come play, none of this will matter in a year anyway. there need to be some sweet cool changes to bring in the IMPORTANT customers (new ones).
You still aren't understanding. In other games there are classes BETTER IN PVP for noobs in order for them to be competitive but the skill ceiling isn't very high. Then there are classes for good players where the class has a high skill ceiling where if you suck you will really suck and a good player can be great. This meaning, they need to balance PvP for all stages and not just one. Just because you guys know the best way of doing things doesn't mean players don't play other ways etc.
