    Why would you ever pay more to wear shittier gear? Rofl... BPG has no idea what they are doing.

    If you are playing destro, there is absolutely no reason to ever put on anything above full fullplate now. You can farm a sele golem for an hour and have enough fullplate bags for a year.

    Oh, and how many times are you gonna downgrade the server before you think we would notice? Might just be the horrible persistance system lagging the server, but definately seems like you downgraded it.

    New specs, skills and armour will be the primary pieces of customizing your playstyle, relics will be more of a cherry on top to push specific niches.

    As always the direction the company goes ultimately rests with myself, including the decision to try to piecemeal features to keep up regular patching which obviously was a mistake and the decision to do this targeted revert on some of the temporary changes made to combat that needed to be done to address current game balance. This weekend we'll be giving a more complete project update once Michael has returned he's currently away. Platinum and clan mines are going into TCS and both have been in development and are partially complete however on their own are going to be pieces of a larger system and not enough we feel so we're adding in a few other connecting pieces to make the feature more complete and useful to encourage clan warfare and claiming territories.

    Its hard when you have two programmers and people want multiple different things. I know everyone wants combat reverted and they just fixed it with this patch. They also have been working on alongside it though.

    Bringing back desto and mage killer was a start, but they made some dogshit changes along with it (encumbrance affecting damage) that further mangled the combat. This wasn't a revert. Its not fixed, not anywhere near fixed either. This is the absolute worst the combat has ever been. Ever.

    Also, we get they have two devs... but that's not really an excuse. I was shown some statistics from launch (who knows if it was true or not, but I believe it) and at one point there were well over 10,000 active subscriptions. You are telling me BPG had that kind of fucking money coming in and they didn't even think about looking to hire some more programmers? That's very poor business management.

    We understand they only got 2 devs, but that's supposed to mean that they shouldn't be wasting time on anything.

    Since combat has not yet been reverted, i think more combat balance patches are coming.

    Before, we only had to nerf things based on popular demand. So wof, eye-rot, comhilther got nerfed. Begone was more like a bug that got fixed.
    We only had to keep-going with some more minor nerfs here and there. Then you add some more specialisation or more spells/skills. I've been asking for buff-other nerf for years (i never wanted them to be removed). Now, they are back-in and nerfed again which is fine i guess.

    Now, we have a destroyer without unburden and other elements that i haven't tested yet. I honestly wait for more pvp videos to drop after every balance patch to see how it plays-out. Then i jump back-in myself to assimilate what i just saw from a good player.

    My post was more a suggestion in response to Crazy Combat Changin' Andy over there talking about development direction. I understand that it is difficult as a small indy developer to push things out.

    I logged in and tested dmg through the encumbrance system. Saw that FP was better than infernal, logged back out.

    Fp always had slightly more bow dmg than infernal. Infernal just made you more tanky which overall was better cause as a heavy you normally get hit more than you hit due to you are a front line. Not sure the numbers, if they arent drastic then it's about the same if it is, then it should be tweaked slightly by maybe adding a slight increase to inf armors arrow prot. I'll test it some in a bit give some numbers next time. Haha

    The whole deal for me when playing destro was statting properly and getting just enough bow shots to keep in the fight. If the damage is too low PLUS not having unburden in the game its still tit for tat. which makes the combat still very stale. Could just be a personal preference but I didnt like what I saw personally.

    Did you have mage killer/destro on? Because bows do good dmg to mages with their staffs out no matter the armor lol. Just need a good encum helm. We have some bow main destros and they are a challenge to beat with that exact style you're talking about .

    The main point I am trying to make is they should just completely revert it. I am sure I could compete just fine too. I didnt write down the numbers because I cannot get myself to put any real time into the game at the moment. They are wasting time trying to put their own little twist into the combat so they can hold themselves at night and feel good about it. We would already have a TCS system, and a clan platinum/resource system more than likely... yet here we are trying to slowly revert to what we used to have but they still want their little ideas in the system, which is the whole reason its still pretty trash.

    Do not spread this nonsense please, it is not only hurtful to read but immensely false.

    We have managed our limited revenue stream more efficiently than I ever imagined we could, and many of us have taken personal financial sacrifices just to keep things running over the years.

    Our financial manager Daniel runs this ship as tightly as any company could, and has done an amazing job. If we had the financial resources to hire new developers or artists we 10000000% would, but we do not at this point in time nor have we ever during the life of this project.

    It took Squanto spewing utter bullshit, but SOMEONE finally cracked MWTatlors epic cool... ever so slightly.

    You guys seem to have finally “found your way” in communications. Keep Kilrain locked behind the coding door, use him where he’s strong. It’s interesting that Ub3r used to be lauded for great communications above all and you guys heavily criticized .... here we are 2 years later and it’s Trading Places but with Andrew instead of Eddie Murphy.

    Please direct me to this individual who's holding onto those hundreds of thousands of dollars...

    We never hit that mark unfortunately and had we of we would have picked up a bunch of developers....

    The truth is we took out some debts to fund a small marketing campaign just before launch for some influencers, website banners and other smaller pieces like Facebook ads/boosts. These were paid back with the launch funds and some upstart funding were paid back, we purchased a couple decent laptops for a few developers who had computers on their last legs and started paying some of the development staff.

    One mistake we made purely due to inexperience in game launches is not predicting the initial dropoff accurately from launch. We moved a couple non programmers behind the scenes to small salaries to keep the engine running strong after launch and had to unfortunately cancel those contracts as it was not sustainable in the late summers early fall last year and focus funds into development only. This caused an understandable morale loss on the volunteers that got a few paycheques and then had to be switched back to a volunteer position causing a few to leave the project for paid work.

    There was also some personal issues that several key members were involved in that cut our legs out for a while and numerous business side issues I wish we could divulge to the community to completely be transparent. Unfortunately we are bound under an NDA agreement that does make full transparency impossible :(.

    One thing I will say is regardless of everything and knowing all the struggles of this team over the last 3.5 years I am proud to be a part of this team and have been honoured to work with such amazing people.

    This!! There are a lot of things you can do with encumbrance that can enhance armor choices. Encumbrance can be extended to effect stamina / mana regen or pools. There are so many options to create diversity / play styles.

    Have not seemed to get a answer for this on the other thread so id thought ill post it here too.

    Darkfall 1 balance with destro was base on 2 main skills you can use a offensives and defensive. Now were only allowed 1 offensive. So if the balance was perfect with having both in old Df how did you balance it now? Mage hunter added 3 elemental protections. Mana shield knocked off a good amount of damage over time too. How were these skills balanced with this new patch? If you needed them before what did you guys do to combat now to make destro visible without a partner skill? Fyi you also would get these bonuses with whatever armor you were wearing...so you could go light chest for extra bow damage but still get thethe protects..now we can no longer do that? So what im really asking is how the rebalance of not having the option for somthing that.was needed to create balance got rebalanced this patch?
