Really excited for the next patch! This persistence system sounds incredible, being able to monitor player activity is paramount. All throughout darkfall history there were horribly abused exploits and this should go a long way towards preserving the integrity of the game.
This system has got me excited and apprehensive at the same time. so many things could go wrong. Good luck with such a massive and critical change
I'll take a wild guess and assume it deals with the persistence files being managed in the AppData folder. Hopefully it should reduce the load/save issues and have better performance for us without having as much of an impact on the CPU. Conversations are stored there, history is constantly being logged and cached in those persistence files, will they be managed better with this new system currently being implemented? And my next question that comes to mind in regards to the chat system: are private conversations being monitored by in-game staff using our chat history or during active conversations? I'm aware this shouldn't be a trivial question and should be already assumed you have that type of functionality. Anyways I'm excited to see what is coming up for us next patch, keep up the good work, and thanks for answering questions and staying active within the community.

It will make anything related to character persistence a lot easier. Technically all of this is already possible, but it's quite complicated for what it should be.
I'm pretty sure it's not this. I think it has to do with actual persistence of the world. How characters, their attributes, skills and even items are persisted (saved) in the game.
This is local persistence which is separate, what we will be doing is server side persistence changes with this. Everything is monitored already in terms of chat. Everything will be monitored. A good example is something like this http://www.uorenaissance.com/items/ , we will be able to make something like this quite easily for internal use. Maybe in the future we can open it up like uo renaissance has done, it's quite interesting data.
@Neilk Let's get that Path of Exile style web interface going. I want to know if someone online is wearing some decent shit in real-time. House trades via the website character page, meditation changes, etc.
We're going to be investigating alternatives for the in-game browser soon enough. We are quite limited currently with what we can do.
@Neilk How is progress with the world builder and architecting of tools related to quest creation, etc? Throwing in a fuck ton of quests like Asheron's Call would do..... ungodly things for this game and the sheep population.
The world builder is linked with quest creation currently, @DestLocke is our main guy on that. It was quite buggy initially with parts missing so he's been working on getting it fixed and updated as the needs arise.
Pretty interesting, but am I the only person who read that and understands you're wiping next week? Are you upgrading to nosql or something and not migrating the database?
