I'll see if revamping that window or at least some kind of quick fix can help make it a bit less tedious. Even if we just allowed people to enchant stacks of gems at a time it would help a little. Due to the way the crafting skill for enchanting works with mix and match possibilities of qualities it makes it a challenge to move it to a regular crafting window. How intensive a revamp is expected to be will tell us if we can at least feasibly throw it in a community patch cycle.
just disable the need of standing next to the crafting station for enchanting. that would remove the frustration of getting the wrong mats. )
Just consolidate all self buffs into like 2-3 single buffs. Leave spell reflect/adept as their own self buffs. In total there should only be about 5 self buffs, 2 of which would be reactionary. Enchanting rings is imo, cancerous. I don't even think heavies should have to do it. Wearing enough heavy should give you free buff options. I haven't thought that heavily into to it but here is an example. - Full set of FP grants 3 protection buffs you can choose at a level of Q 2.5. (You can choose any enchantable protection/attribute.) So as an example you choose - Slashing, Piercing and Fire prot. Full infernal grants 3 protection buffs (of your choice) at Q 3.5 Full Dragon grants 3 protection buffs (of your choice) at Q 4.5 Full set of plate is Q 1.5 Any set under Plate gives no protection buff set bonus. The buffs not being at full power still gives value to jewelry but it isn't 100% mandatory anymore. Obviously there would be issues with gear breaking or not wearing a full set but perhaps the quality of the enchant tapers off if you mix and match gear. (This idea would only reasonably function properly with a pre-combat changes update since we would then have to factor in the encumbrance changes to destroyer/mage killer.)
Make self buff a profession. Someone can skill it up like in Star Wars Galaxies. Then people pay him to use mats and skill for a 1 to 3 hour or however long buff. Skill comes into play and mats for the skill. Higher quality means longer buff. etc.
I think we really need some proof there there's capabilities of such a yuuuge patch to be done and marketed properly, none of this has been evident in the past. I want nothing more than to play DF again.
No I hate enchanting too, if they have to put buff self they have to make one for evertithing. Or make it passive for mages and DELETE boring, useless unbalanced enchanting.
What if enchanting was just a craft and it only made gems? Of course the Gem bug would have to be fixed.
I'm going off of something someone posted a week or two ago. The gem bug I'm thinking of is the one where if you go through a load screen, then try to use any gems. They won't work. So if you've been online for 5 hours and you died 4.5 hours ago, then you can't use gems until you log off and on again.
Yes as Neil said this bug had a fix pushed in a recent patch and should no longer happen on traded or market bought gems.
