im gonna miss portal chambers...especially if theyre gonna be sitting inside of every city and hamlet being static, thatd be super sad to look at aslong as i dont have to see them when theyre "gone" it should be all good! who knows besides that.. yayayaya!
It's probably best to abandon the idea of your own subreddit. Even a community one. The Darkfall sub, while tiny and toxic as fuck, is too small and stubborn to willingly divide itself. It's nice to have one place to talk about all things Darkfall, including your competitor.
Devs want to expand trading and yet no "markets". To seek right player's vendor is a hurdle and could be used as gank bait. Local markets at capitals that not linked with each other will be right decision for trading, much safer and will expand indirect trading. Think medieval, every huge city had market. This will also promote crafting as gold always did.
What they could do is expand housing to npc cities(including chaos) There are so many houses in city that serve no purposes. Turning them into Clan Halls or whatever with a much more expensive rent than player houses would be a great gold sink. However I'm not sure they should allow recall to clan halls
Then what purpose do they serve? They need to be something more than a roof and four walls. Maybe they can have a vendor and clan related trophies to put on the walls plus other fluff.
Let me be more clear, I dont think they should create a new form of recall to recall to those. If someone wants to bind to it as a house, and use house recall, that's fine
Not for nothing but when UW removed travel options is put a big hurtin on player activity. I get the reasons for it and in a perfect world I'd agree but in practice with the population we'll probably have and the size of the world I think removing portal chambers from cities might be a mistake. At least without something significantly easy to replace it. A series of one way trips around Agon is a bit meh to me.
There is difference between running around houses looking for good vendor like a tool and and having all merchandise from whole region in 1 spot. Its just common sense and with low tax you could sell anything without spamming chat. I'm sure its a lot of fun to spam chat with WTS/WTB while "guarding" your bank :] Every time I read about one-way portal, I remember "Heroes of Might & Magic" series. Sometimes there was second one-way portal to exit "islands". For reasons you described its important to have a working and effective net of portals. I always thought that forcing "territorial behavior" of animals on players was big mistake. To bound and confine player to 1 region with local bank and no teleportation, what could be worse.
No clue if anyone pointed this out cause I didn't feel like reading comments, but in the post it was said that: "Q: Are you going to add a way to look at someone’s inventory without having to gank them? Michael: We have actually talked a lot about this. It’s definitely something that we want to accomplish, it’s just difficult from a development standpoint. I think it would be great for the new player experience because it could prevent ganking of new players that have nothing of value." If you do it this way it should only be look and not loot. Cause even though it could stop people from ganking newbies, if you're able to loot it in combat when you kill someone you could just grab their staff and/or melee wep instead of ganking to make that person useless. Would also make scroachers even more annoying than they alrdy are.
