I honestly 100% respect yours and bpgs intentions for df. I just feel like you guys would have been better off with the uw game license that's all. You guys could have many many changes easily that you already did and plan to do. Also I understand you want new players not just old players. But you can't play it halfway like uw or you will lose both old and new players which I see happening already. Also I know most of you didn't play dfuw so some changes you plan or already have done do tend to be similar in nature and I understand it maybe not intentional most of the time. I also know every game being built try's to borrow ideas from successful titles. I think where your losing me and people like me is at some point df has or will become df roa in people's minds and we're either going to like it or be saddened by it. I hope we like it because as much of a dick I am I do want it to succeed. I just find by being a disgruntled subscriber my blunt feedback actually does start to weigh heavy on bpgs minds and they start to see the side of their other half of their subscribers minds. Because believe it or not a lot of ex df players do agree with a lot of what I say and they just aren't vocal about it. I won't beat a dead horse though I already made my point on how much of roa ideas tend to be similar to dfuw and like I said earlier it's not all bad it's just a fact. And I understand what you mean by many games tend to become alike. Have a good day andrew. Pop your head in more to the forums. --- Post updated --- Dude I don't even know you. Only that you have an issue with me. Take it out in df pvp and let the better player win. Don't take life so serious and don't let people that have opposing thoughts fuck up your whole day.
One thing to keep in mind is that Dfo had some glaring issues and UW attempted to fix a lot of them, so naturally when BPG took over they had to fix a lot of those same issues, which is probably part of why you feel they're copying stuff.
You all just need to accept that people are entitle to their own point of views. And where as most people left active on roa forum tend to share a similar mindset where as most people that tend to share mine are waiting for launch and or just stay silent. You and I are pretty widely known in the df community and also are clan leaders and as being such over the years we have made connections with other clan leaders and have them on discord or steam. I'm not sure about you, but I try to do roll calls to see how people are leaning about playing roa and dnd. So far my clan and other leaders clans I'm in contact with tend to be very split. They either say df is dead and won't play dnd or roa. Or they say they will definitely try launch but don't think either dnd or roa will sustain the numbers needed to be successful. Or they say I'm just gonna play and have fun and I actually like the changes and even if I don't I want to give both teams the benefit of the doubt. Me personally I'm between the 2nd and 3rd where as most of my clan is between the 1st and 2nd. 15 members maybe a small number in the grand scheme of game population but when I get other clan leaders saying the same and much bigger clans at that it tends to scare me because I want the game to succeed I love df. Than I ask why they are having doubts. Most say the grind. People think i bitch about grind bc I'm lazy. The truth is I'd prefer df eu1 launch grind which I'm sure you remember. The other common issue is end game sandbox content. Another issue is server performance. Another issue is people are unsure on how many new players will come they want a full server.
you can hate UW all you want but aois is not bad at all in fact id also like to see relics dyes unique boss mobs verry rare weapons (there is currently no way to get r80s, and they kinda suck too, hopefully the new rare mobs can solve this problem?) spawn scaling (champion spawns and super spawns are a step in the right direction and should promote group pve) i do think diminishing returns should be removed on some things tho, some crafting skills are way too fucking expensive to level, makes noone want to be a crafter cost equality between gearsets, making an infernal-tier bone armor or something, you could get mats from certain specific mobs, making hotspots (just look at dfuws leenspar mats farming) if anyone is making dfo ressemble dfuw its new dawn, not roa, theyre the ones drastically changing combat trying to force people into roles, also giving specific armor types traits ps please just tell us where you put new special spawns when you patch them in, or i just wont go look for them untill someone posts where they are, im here to test, not to waste my time, thats the reason im not grinding 3 months for dnd beta
I usually read most of the forums but the past month I haven't had as much time so I've only popped into a few threads here and there. Plus typically our slack channels have all the threads put into anyways from the team haha. It's almost like an extension of the forums sometimes .
@Andrew You guys should start formatting the patchnotes text in a more reader friendly way. Seems like it's @Adûn (<3) publishing them with extra paragraph breaks...
Ok fine, I'll stop bugging you to work on an amazing idea that will save Darkfall. Right After..... I get that out of my system....
I wish you guys the best. The success hinges on population IMO. The core game is decent and unique. Best of luck getting new players on the server. Smart idea to get a new server, two thumbs up for that. Hit up mmorpg and massively op. Hell see if they will let some players say some nice things on your company's behalf. I don't see ROA on the beta watch for massively or your scheduled released date on their indie blotter. I hope to see some familiar faces and foes on launch. Oh and hey have a heart. Make a damn bunny ear helmet skin for $1.99 in the store. You are a business time to make some money. Wishing you devs, players, and even toxic kids the best. Moaty Boaty ROA retired but not for long.
Agreed, as shit as UW was, they had some good ideas which compared to other games were pretty generic. Should we not implement dyes in some form just because UW had them? Same applies to all ideas. We should exclude bad ideas for actually being bad, not because they were in UW and maybe their execution of it was poor
please take scroll reading to level main spells out and return to normal. also papyrus harvesting is the very thing that needs your QOL attention it sucks gathering. I also think the task system and papyrus thing is non sandbox you are forcing people to play micro manage tactics.
what do you mean by this? are you saying "main" spells as in dmg spells? If so, dmg spells never lost any exp gained while just normally playing. Being able to level them through scrolls in tandem with playing normally is completely extra. Also i agree, the current papyrus hitbox is difficult to gather from
I would prefer batches of say 5-10 papyrus per plant, just less in total around agon. Id be much more inclined to get off my mount every minute or two than try to grab that ridiculous hitbox 8 times.
