so am i the only one that looked at this post and asked.... That took 2 months??? Hopefully that is not all that you did in 2 months, You broke a bunch of shit through the process of this beta and it still hasnt been fixed like dismounting, id range on papyrus, staff cost vs use, damage anomalies and the list goes on.... how about weapon switching and skill queuing that will drive everyone nuts? How about the failure rates that EVERYONE complains about? If Champ spawns and some shitty "tutorial system" and "task system" with some new portal models is all you have for launch then everyone better wear their life jackets cause this bitch is gonna sink.
This isn't the full patch notes, a few of the key features. There's also a few features that are being prepared for launch that won't make it in this patch and a global loot/skins rebalance for launch. Much of the work we've done throughout beta has been platforms to build on post launch. We've added new items, new structures, made several world editor changes to hamlets and villages, changed music and installers, load screens, GUI, macro system, minor revamp to crafting skills to add multiple recipes, in game map can now display any object we want, scribing skill with scrolls, regular and mastery skills to tie into upcoming artisan skills, mount stamina, new alignment titles and alignment dungeons, ability to add additional bank tiers, persistence monitoring of every item in game, named/champion spawns (named spawns are based on champion spawns), tons of improvements to the tools used to develop the game (always ongoing), improvements to the dynamic spawning system to add lots more variables (previously had one option of being near water). Every time we add new features we often revamp the backend of the code to make changes in the future easier and to allow more flexibility and options. This work over the past year will give us the ability to add more and more content. Unfortunately it's not really "eye candy" stuff so we don't usually highlight it much . It's just necessary work to set up a more efficient future. We have pipelines in place for everything in the game after this discovery period except for one piece of adding in new animations (We just haven't gotten into it yet much, will be making new animations and mobs for champions though in the near future).
we all know what you have added in the so far... We know you broke a portion of it in some way or another. This game needed a lot more before launch.
If we want everything perfect we'll never launch the game. At some point we need to launch and we feel comfortable doing it at this time. Darkfall always has something it "needs" before it's ready for every player. There's a point where you gotta just go with it and we're at that point. It's time for it to be real again, time for the politics and allies/foes to be forged .
delay to June. Add more stuff and test better (specially economy) another mandatory task is the map, the current map with nothing being showed is completly outdate and will force ppl to alt+tab to see spaws and stuff. u really wants new peeps doing that?
My opinion is if i can't get off my mount properly, if i have to stop swinging my sword to select a skill or else it doesnt get selected, the amazing frustration of picking up papyrus still, the attrocious fail rates and the horrible cost of effective gear bags then this game is not ready for launch. So many things you will end up changing after launch that will piss everyone off. If i grind Great Swords and you change it so Pole Arms are the new Meta after i have a million gold worth of GSs and the grind time im gonna be pissed like a lot of other players. If you change what a spell does or how it works and its no longer as useful your going to piss off all the people that invested in it and the list goes on with things your company has been EXTREMELY vague about with the response "meh, we might talk about this issue in a meeting and change it down the line". The game is NOT launch ready.
You are right. They can't even hit the deadline for a patch. How will they launch on time? For anyone reading this post, Big Picture Games has missed their patch date by over a month.
yet they still brought DFO back to life with 10x more updates and fix then AV did in years. we all piss about the patch been delay, but if they adding more fix/stuff its worth waiting
We should count our lucky stars that DF is going to live again, in any form. No reason to not be patient. Also no cause to assume incompetence. From what I understand, a lot of them are doing DF stuff alongside normal jobs. Not to White Knight for them too much but yeah...
They did bring it back to life. But who is playing? A total of 50-100 people? It is practically still dead until launch. I'm not playing anymore and I don't think you are either unless you have a different account.
a lot of players will not log for beta, ill just log in to test the patch out. and i dont think im alone doing that.
I think people are overreacting, this is not even remotely close to the "real" experience, that comes at launch, this is basically the testing phase. We'll see who the real top players and clans are at launch, we're going to be swimming in the deep end.
For about 3 months I think. Then moderate numbers maybe for 3 to 6 months more. A lot of bad reviews as well likely. I wouldn't launch like this but hey... who am I anyways?
