Just as the title reads... have some extra cash and looking to upgrade graphics card and monitor here soon. Of all places I saw these in Costco (yes, I'm a Costco member). The picture quality looks gorgeous and I'm curious how the curved shape of the monitor might affect the game and what resolution you'd play the game on.
Yup. Hardcore hard-on everytime I play games and watch porn, of course. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009874&ignorebbr=1 Price just came down too.
It's an Acer though... typically their product quality is pretty average. Unless they've stepped up their game recently?
I haven't had any problems so far but if you're looking for "proven" quality Samsung makes a pretty decent version
4k is also a lame buzzword to describe any resolution 4,096x2,160 pixels + So technically speaking the Acer is 2k + Human eye has a hard time distinguishing between 720p and 1080p...anything else is a bit overkill IMO...unless you're playing DFO in 3D on a 57 inch TV...in which case...knock yourself out. If you want to spend close to $400+ on something you wont notice feel free to check out: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009893&ignorebbr=1 Another edit: Better have a sweet GPU also.
The difference between 1080p and 4k is pretty drastic, especially when you are doing something that isn't a full screen game/movie. That said, I would never suggest getting a 4k monitor under 28".
This is where I have to agree to disagree. The difference between 2k and 4k is NOT noticeable. Unless you have 40/40 vision.
Oh I know. The OP was asking about 4k monitors so I thought I'd point it out. I personally have a 29inch in 2560x1080 and love it.
I just had this discussion with my brother in law. He's looking to get a gaming PC and wants a 4k monitor 'cause that's apparently the cool thing to do. Please tell me if I gave him the right advice because these are the rules I abide by. I told him when I bought my gaming PC I settled for some decent $100 18 inch ish monitor because I play every game in low qualities since I'm playing against other players most of the time anyways. I told him if he was going to watch movies and maybe some cool single player games, then to just buy a badass 4k tv and just pipeline the image when needed to watch the desired 4k especially for football season. I told him if he wants to play online games against other players, a 4k monitor could make things look pretty but it would force him to buy a really expensive machine that he may not be able to justify.

I have a 34" 3440x1440 ips and i love it but i need a new gpu my 780 does not cut it gonna buy a gtx 1080 later. Good thing is that the screen scales 2560x1080 perfect so i can run that aswell for heavy games.
anyone that struggles to see the difference was born with a mental disability i'm sorry that you had to realize it so late..............
Says the 20 year old ish anime man-child who apparently fell asleep in English 101. The difference between 720 & 1080 != the difference between 720 & 2k-4k just like the difference between 2k & 4k is like the difference between 720 & 1080. Now go drop some acid and watch Sailor Moon in your moms basement.
wow, there are small differences and there are big differences, each of which anyone that isn't retarded could see!!! you really got me there!!! also i got an a in english 101 thx u very much...
