Like most of the people I did all the artifacts afk sticked to the zerg but it was pretty fun to see 200 people dying of falling damage cause someone crashed and keep running forward Still, totally different worlds, I could run daoc now, be ready in a moment and find pvp in no time, it's not something that can be said of darkfall and not even something they are aiming for.
definitely true nowadays but DAoC devs also realized that the game is 17 years old now and literally no1 wants to do pve anymore. you can literally get 1-50 in 30 mins through quest chains now and buy all gear with bounty points. takes less than an hour total to reroll a new char now. that beeing said id love to play a server @ toa launch patch level again. pretty much only time i ever enjoyed pve in that game cos it was quite challenging back then when you did everything with max 8 ppl. but yea its impossible to compare, DAoC was a themepark heavily focussed on RvR endgame with little to none real endgame PvE content once you´re templated while DF was designed as a sandbox that just happened to be all about PvP cos that was pretty much the only thing fully implemented when it launched. also DAoC is perfectly fine with 500 concurrent players as 80-90% will be in PvP zones anyway and the zones arent that huge while DF simply cant function properly with the same amount of players even if they were all actively looking for PvP at the same time simply because the map is so big.
Any chance we can put a pin in the combat changes for the expansion? Leave that until after imo. Means we get it quicker and less chance of another colossus fuck up.
being driven by players it will not work in a long term. red x blue factions thats the way u can save the game, not making it exclusively clan dependent
Premium Subscription will unlock certain limitations free accounts have such as bank/carrying capacity, advanced crafting skills, house ownership, market limitations and the ability to create a clan to name a few. I would change the carrying capacity to be the same as a premium subscription. Not being able to carry the same amount is pretty game breaking when it comes to pvp/pve. Not being able to carry a second mount, going overweight when looting etc. The bank limitation seems fine as it won't effect gameplay at all and is more of a convenience factor. Anyone with a semi-decent bank will be forced to sub just to put items back in so it will only be an inconvenience to newer players trying the game.
how? can i be in a dif factions than my clannies? the current game design is clan dependent. cities, sieges etc.. if ure new in this game u necessarily needs to find a guild to participate in almost everything. And these guilds are dependent of the clan leader activity.. thats why sometimes the game dies quickly. u should not begg for a clan for play the game and being in this clan not root for the clan leader stay leading and the guild still provides content. 4 factions with dif perks, living in dif areas of mainland competing for resources, land towers and protect their homelands would be way more exciting and innovative than the current extremely boring sieges for more 10 years.
You are literally describing strict race wars... which is what the game was originally supposed to have
*inb4 me and who I am being the whole reason behind my logic* All wipe mantras should be referred to the UW's "soft wipe" and how that small expected pop boost was doomed from the start in more than 1 way, one of the main ways being the fact that you ruined everyone's banks and the economy allows players to get well off in end game gear quick enough anyways.. Felt like the same ppl being spoken for since all these noticeable clans were gonna come back but ended up leaving like the majority of loyal and returning players who took a massive loss for a small fruitless pop boost. There is no real economic solution to just wipe even after these listed changes. (which any noticeable changes being mentioned get the same bs repeated like its good enough for a wipe) People coming back saw its effects on their banks and saw no real reason for them to have lost basically everything. Even if you really thought up some perfect economy that is suppose to justify some kind of wipe, it just can't when you actually try to factor in economic issues (esp. the ones that could be fixed before a wipe) and the lost given to the returning player base which may not think their bank is something that needed to be wiped. Which it may end up being a sizable bank that other players may have just finished farming back up before the later returning players or the one's that can't play much right after the wipe could even make back what they just lost... You may also realize that the economy will flush itself out anyways even in some of the worse scenarios, esp. if open world building and TCS/AOI conflicts become a reality. (Also ppl that continue to hoard continue to factor their wealth largely out of the economy anyways.) Beyond that, a partial wipe allows some to fair through it far better than others. (which should be needless to say and counter-intuitive to initial reasoning..) it also gives much more power to those who spend on the shop to sell after a wipe while complicates and ult. negates anyone to sold CS items for ingame items before the wipe. Everything that is wiped in some way can be made back up through items that isn't affected, even if its just partial cash shop items. So its just illogical to try to continue since trying to rationalize how a wipe should happen doesn't make sense and the fact that SOME ppl might return for some period of time doesn't make up for the continual lost of people that happens naturally over time, but worse after any kind of wipe since the natural number of people just trying to return to the game loses all that they had in it... its just like in UW's Jesus patch and I was super rich then aswell and I was still rich through it and I was much more so shortly after it. Through a partial wipe I could have never gotten that poor no matter how much I lost and right after the wipe... I just played the game... Those who did not immediately gain as much as they could have in game after the wipe found themselves, after a like a week in, logging into the game with alot less for no real reason.. As if there wasn't really a wipe on the field but they had to go out in jack shit to try to gather up pennies when ppl were already putting infernal type gear on... in groups... All those calling for a wipe is better off going through every mob spawn and table and debating it into perfection before ever thinking there is a real reason to wipe what is in game since over time a whole world of people could and should be alot richer... So even if there wasn't any duping scandals, what is in game is less than what should be since extremely low pop for long periods of time.. If the game kept a healthy population, you'd somehow have more reason to wipe it all and it'd be so great cuz people that don't and wont keep playing would come back for a little while... More is sitting in game not being generated by players than what was ever generated and any one could be playing right now getting some for themselves as they should be and allowed to keep if the game came back to life through needed and expected changes that THOSE SAME PEOPLE WERE ACTIVELY WAITING ON!! You'll have no chance for TCS if not for these people keeping the game as alive as possible and any concern about the amount in game is nothing compared to the amount that would be in game if you people kept playing. (which then would be more justification for a wipe with this line of thinking. How can the server be up and not be wiped after a short period of time?) Even if you rationalized everything down towards 0 as much as logically possible to really put a massive grind on every aspect in the game to prevent as much as possible any kind of abundance of a single important item... you'll find that the economy will start leveling out and flushing through the excess anyways... Anything largely withheld from trade or use is then largely factored out of the economy since it just sits in someone's bank for the most part and if they didn't cheat for it, they should keep it. You'll probably find more real issues with durability and considering salvaging and repairing items after lowering dura to add a real cost to maintain the item's long life than you'll find with just deleting everyone's bank and starting over without addressing relative issues. (also if u rationalized everything down to the ground to try to stem any flow of riches, you'll find that its not worth the player's time to farm even the best things which tend not to give as much bang for your buck.) FYI, my massive endless bank haven't had anything new put in it in months and in that time frame anyone could have been playing the game and not complaining about what ppl that play the game have.. Everyone that says they will play if they just wiped as if thats what is keeping them from playing should just shut up and play right now then SINCE THERE WILL BE NONE. Repeated, repeatedly.. But its obv. more complicated than that and god forbid we wipe and your asses find out of some bad changes that wont be reverted. Every time I see ppl calling for wipes its almost as if I never shitted on it as hard as I have repeatedly in the past. The current economy is dwarfed in comparison to a populated ROA and even perfecting the economy through drop rates and then wiping isn't justifiable, the main reason beyond not hurting the current lasting life blood player base, is that any concerns about massive stacks will be flushed out over time through game play esp. with TCS. You are probably better off trying to get players to spend gold through vendors or turn in quest where you get less than you turn in for reputation gain. Rant over.
Ok the time has come to drop all the bullcrap and focus on what matters. ARENA --- Post updated --- Holding the use key to despawn mounts makes me fuck up getting on my mount every time. Let people use the old system if they want.
Wait are BPG really adding an arena? It would be great if we got another update on what is or isn't currently being worked on /planned for the expansion Because it seems like BPG's priorities and vision shift a lot, for example they've been talking about territory control since October 2017, but it seems like they stopped working on it and switched to other things in that time
I know that but the use key to get on the mount is fucked up since they added the ability to hold it down to despawn. I can't consistently get on a mount with it anymore, might be because of wifi but it is a huge problem none the less.
Pretty sure theres a slight delay in being able to use the alt use key. At least that's what I've found.
