I think a major problem came when BPG forgot about goals to add sand to the sandbox and focused on stuff like revamping gathering to be more active (kill me) and revamping crafting to the degree they did (good change, but was the time spent on it really of greater value over creating content that gave the player something to do outside of pvp and grind gear for pvp?) I get darkfall is a pvp based game, but it's the kind of mmorpg that could only succeed if it has a healthy population. maintaining a healthy population requires more than just pvp. I'm including darkfalls pve as pvp just because you literally don't pve unless your trying to gain gear or stats for pvp. The mob AI while better per individual mob than allot of games is rather un-engaging after a while. It seems everything acts in a similar nature and just have different spells/equipment they use to do the same thing. after pve'ing for a few days you know what to expect AI wise from most mobs.
BPG made the mistake of removing the character development grind without adding anything else to do in the game. people max out in a month, and then they have no reason to do anything except pvp for the sake of pvp, which is hard to find as theres few people out in the world doing things. also significantly decreased the value of holdings which killed the conquest aspect of the game.
There is plenty of ppl still grinding tbh - the most vocal ppl here who run out of shit are also the ones who play 10 hours a day. No mmmo has enough content for them.
IT'S A SCREAMER GUYS, THE SOUND BUILDS UP DURING THE VIDEO AND AT THE END A CRAZY GHOST DUDE POPS OUT AND SCARES YOU
I understand that if you go to the right places you find people but it's a matter of principle. We raided about 20 hamlets cities and that was the only geared dude we found. This is supposed to be a alive mmo that just launched. Instead its just ending up being like the end of df1 where there are a handful of places to go where activity is high. Games gonna just fuckin die and go offline in a year. WE ARE LOSING MOMENTum NOT GAINING. I mean look at the amount of people in clans lol. 400 In gentlemen 80 in about 15 others. Half of that is alts. There are like 2k people in clans if that and not all of them are playing plus everyone has a alt. It's sad.
This guy has always been on of the biggest cry babies around, its not a loss. Hell go back to moms basement and cry about something else thats not fair in his life.
not the ones who play 10 hours a day so much as the one that played 10+ hours +exploited + went stupid hard on the grind (cause I gotta be done now) and that is what happens, far as 4 hours of roam without pvp that Is just super bad luck, we roamed in 5 man group just cpl nights ago and got a lot of pvp, we def found empty holdings also but that is to be expected when people ally up and live together
I've definitely had the same experience multiple times now. Last time I pointed it out on the forums I was called a liar. First time I was roaming with a group of 5 from dwarf lands to niflheim for 3 hours and didn't see a single person hitting every holding, decent spawn, and dungeon along the way. Wasn't until frostbourne that we actually found someone. Last weekend I roamed solo hitting 5 Hamlets and 2 cities. Everything was a completely empty except a naked miner in long March and 2 guys in robes at Andruk. That was it.
