It was tongue in cheek, as the last thing most of the arguers against making archery anything other than the boring skill it is right now is something that would be good against mages. And like I said to zoro, redundant spells are nothing new so what's the problem now?

what about an hitscan arrow that does around 100 hp 75 stam and mana and has infinite range? we can give it barely more cast time than a normal arrow, then make it take 20 stats to use!

On a serious note though, I believe that the low end gear / enchants for archery needs a buff. However the high end gear is a little on the strong side.
I think a couple of nice fixes to this would be to change it so the low end gear has less encumbrance for archery, so that they do more damage with a bow, however the high end gear should stay the same encumbrance.
There should also be high end mage gear added (which I think they are working on).
I would rather have my insane archery dps than magic with a bow. No matter what 'special abilities' or 'utilities' you want to add it's already in the game as magic. What's the point in making spells that you cast with a bow. In order to balance it properly it's going to have to take mana and stamina to cast just like a spell, and it would have to cost regs. Wow you just made Magefall 2.0 now you can cast spells with a bow and the projectiles are faster than Magic 1.0 ....
Honestly I like 2 and a damage nerfed version of 4

Great ideas some of them but an easier fix... more selentine so we can make some good bows at least.

Dont have gold to buy it... dont want to trade... dont want to travel to trade or even talk about trade. I just want to work for some selentine. So put a fucken seletine golem that isnt on the other side of the map so I can farm the thing.
There are 4 spawns of selentine golems in the world. I would be happy if they added some to the mainland though.
While it's a fair point to say that it having super high dps is preferable to more utility, to say that all the design space in this game has been used up by magic already is kinda ridiculous. Bows already use regs, arrows, and they don't necessarily need to cost mana, just have adequate cooldowns (completely absurd to say something has to have a stam and mana cost for balance btw). And if it is true that literally everything that can be done has already been done by magic.... well that shows where the problem is no? Surely then some spells should be removed from magic because it offers far too much utility? (i don't actually think this but that's what your indicating in your argument)
The point is that even if you use bows as a primary form of DPS you have access to all the utility. Just because you don't want to switch to a staff to cast the spells doesn't mean the design is flawed.
Oh so you don't want your magical bow spells to cost mana and regs? You just want them to have a faster projectile speed, a lower stat cost, and a lower gold cost per shot? Because magic per shot is more expensive, costs more stats, is slower than arrows, and it already has cool downs. I now repeat my previous sentiment "Wow you just made Magefall 2.0 now you can cast spells with a bow and the projectiles are faster than Magic 1.0 ...."
