    If your going for new tasks may I suggest the followng:

    A task based bestiary using the current tasks system.

    Have a bestiary with a page for each mob in the game. It would be searchable so that you could search for a text line and go to that mob e.g "Obsidian Golem" or "Q4 Sparkstone" would take you to the Obsidian Golem page.

    Tasks.

    Kill 1 - A a lore based desciption of the mob is added to the page.
    Kill 25 - (to learn the mobs weakness) After 25 a few lines of text are added to the mob bestiary enter with the mobs resitance numbers.
    Kill 50 - (to learn the mobs drops) After 25 a few lines of text are added to the mob bestiary enter with the mobs loot drop table and drop rates.

    The number of kills can be adjusted to what ever you think is reasonable and even some med points could be added to each stage.

    This new bestiary would be great for players. People would finally have access to the information they want. It would give loads of new tasks to go and do. It would give completionists a major undertsaking to fill out the whole of the new bestiary.

    N.B. If you are unable or unwilling to release the full numbers of resitances or loot drops you could give a description like "The oak lord is a monster made from wood and is weak to fire and slashing" or " The oak lord is known is be a good source of Oaklord Greenleaf (Q3), Timber and Cotton".

    Interesting idea. I'd have to talk that over with the team because I think there were plans of a bestiary on the community polls before. I do like the sound of this.

    If it's an idea the team is okay with I might take a crack at it, we'll see. I'm not fully reoriented yet so I can't make any promises, still figuring out what I'll be doing. Jimmy might have some interest in that too, I know he wanted a bestiary for a long time.

    I do suggest hooking some content into that.

    Mob type/family lore is a logical fit here, as are things like weaknesses/strengths, and loot tables.

    But you need to include a carrot on the stick to make people interested in completing their bestiary and not just google a spreadsheet for that information. It should also feel different enough from tasks.

    So I'll toss in a long-time idea of myself; Hook a progression into every bestiary category, which not only tracks your progress towards unlocking monster lore and other information about them, but also increase your characters effectiveness in combat against that specific monster.

    Example:

    Monster Family: Goblins (Goblins, Wildtribes, Hobgoblins, Raven Standard)
    Progress: 1 through 100.
    Level 10: Unlock monster lore chapter 1.
    Level 20: Unlock monster strengths and weaknesses.
    Level 30: Deal 2.5% increased damage against monsters of the Goblin family.
    Level 40: Unlock monster lore chapter 2.
    Level 50: Unlock monster loot table information.
    Level 60: Deal 2.5% increased damage against monsters of the Goblin family.
    Level 70: Unlock monster lore chapter 3.
    Level 80: Unlock knowledge of critical weak points, 5% critical strike chance against monsters of the Goblin family.
    Level 90: Deal 5% increased damage against monsters of the Goblin family.
    Level 100: Goblins fear you. When fighting monsters of the Goblin family, you have a 1% chance to instantly kill them.

    The idea is that progression here would be pretty slow, so look at it as a long-term goal, in a game where skill progression is otherwise very fast. All damage factors apply only to the monsters, never against other players.

    Coolest skill cape :)

    In all seriousness, the more PvE goals, achievements and progression the better. Those are the least risk and highest reward ways of adding content to a game like darkfall

    add in rare drops. Named weapons, Cape's, Recipe's etc.. and I agree 100%

    I suppose that maxing all bestiary skills in the game should reward something fairly impressive, such as a powerful bonus in PvE or fancy title like "Handsome Bob the Extinction Level Event".

    A statue that can be placed in your home with inscribed words indicating the reason for the statue.
