I'll say this, I used to bash DND for no reason just to try to create a draw to a singular Darkfall. Then as DND developed, their design direction was so anti-me that I decided it would kill its self off without critique.

If it wasnt for the few of my clanmates still playing DND I would have left already. Our group is literally split in two between both games and its sad to say it but which will be the first to crash and burn?

One of my clannies even asked if it would have been better to play as I told them since they are invested in DND thus far it would be the wiser choice for them since if DND fails, it doesnt take as long to catch up in ROA where as if ROA fails, it would be so discouraging to start again in DND since everyone will be so far ahead that a lot would walk away from Darkfall forever.

BPG seems to be on point with adding things to their game. Ub3r seems to be taking so long but then again they are nearly half a year behind BPG and their launch is still in its infancy.

Im honestly considering just alternating game nights and playing both at this point. One night of overtime should give wiggle room to my game budget.

Roa is better but DND have better key binding, easyer and faster, better for new player and you can choose different staff for different spell with a simple mechanics, and it works!

DND shouldn't exist. There should be one Darkfall. Sooner it dies the better.

The only thing Dnd did right was getting rid of the ray spam cancer.

Both games will die soon. I wouldn't play either.

Honest opinion on the RoA boards :tearsofjoy:

Looking at the metrics just makes me sad.

    Darkfall is a dying breed.

I speak about binding mechanics, not how many features have roa. DND is better for weapons binding, faster and more intelligent. I know that many people here on ROA use external software (macro) for bindings and I think that is not good.

Setting bindings is way easier in DND and with the weapon bar it's much more intuitive for new players. Our new players are overwhelmed with choice and are stuck with shitty default bindings with no guide on how to properly get set up. It's likely turned away a lot of people.

It is overwhelming. We're planning out something more inline with typical MMOs where you'll place equipment on your paperdoll rather than the hot bar. The challenge is making it intuitive while maintaining as much flexibility as we can.

Seems more honest than ND forums tbh and without the blind fanboyism. Let's be real. I forgot all about agon metrics, probably shouldn't base activity solely off of that though, you should know better!

I've never seen a more willfully ignorant population than the ND fanboys. They will shit on constructive criticism that would not hurt their tedious nonsense that they love, but would make more players interested in playing.

    DND:
Much less screen shaking during large PvP.
WoF much less used/powerful, and knockups much less powerful.
    Instant rays much less powerful.
More armor options, lots of different tiers of armor for leather and mages now.
    Blinds seem less powerful.

Overall I think I find the combat experience in DND more enjoyable.

Hopefully RoA is paying attention to DND, and will try out some of the changes they made that are actually a positive for the experience.

Lmfao, setting 1 weapon on 1 bar everytime you swap weapons is 10x more annoying then being able to literally line-up every single weapon in the game you would use on 1 hotkey. The max items in succession you can have in ND is 5, you can't even bind all 6 racial mounts to 1 hotkey, and with no first available option it's cancerous.

The ability to set the bind right there on the bar is the only good thing about NDs ui.

This being said, there could still be work done to make it more intuitive/easier than having the hotbar mess of:
