The Character Perk System has been on the docket publicly for a long time now, so this should be no surprise to anyone. It has also been one of the most requested items on our roadmap since we released it. We promised we would be open this so we can get feedback and let you guys test out the changes before they go live. The best thing to do is get engaged and provide your input or you may miss out on the chance to do so before its release.
I think that this would bring more players than combat changes. PvE is pretty bland after playing for a while even with all the good changes.
the only people that request this perk system have long since quit and wont come back for these changes. the actives you do have obviously don't like it and you will most likely end up losing most of them.
8. Release to steam 9. Combat changes that should go on the test server and stay on there for months until they're ironed out
You guys really have to steel yourselves for the next few weeks. Most of the people who are on board with these changes won't be found whining up every thread asking for shark mounts.
No offense here man but anyone on board with these combat changes are horrible ppvpers and even with the proposed system will remain horrible pvpers. I guess if we graded on a curve after the changes, you could be the best cuz we'll all likely be gone. --- Post updated --- Did marothis give you my message? Haha
Sure, i'm pretty bad, but do you really think the devs have any interest in catering to the 50 or so elitists circlejerking in the video subforum? I get that combat changes are scary, i get that lots of people are afraid of not being able to use the same old skill rotation that they've been practicing to perfection for years on end, i get it. But if nothing changes, the game will eventually just die off, and that's not something any of us wants. Fundamentally, even without any modification to the initial layout, NOTHING changes about the combat. The only thing that changes is you won't be 100% sure on what your opponent will be using every single fight. Yall are good, you'll get used to it, you'll wreck face, so why cry? If this brings in some newer players, all the more face for you to wreck, no? And despite what many of you are saying, the stale, linear combat revolving around the same skill rotation used by every single player does NOT appeal to everyone. I've had plenty of experience trying to get people into dfo, and many of them had no interest in being a hybrid ray mage/melee. The combat is fun as it is, but that doesn't mean it can't be better.
Combat changes are a black hole that will suck you in and sideline any of the other major changes you want to make. You'll spend months and months trying to get the balance right, meanwhile the playerbase will dwindle and you will be so far behind on your other roadmap items. Just because a change is requested does not mean it is high priority or high impact. You have to actually assess what the change will entail and how difficult it will be to implement. It's pure hubris to think you can balance the game out after such a massive combat overhaul.
This can't be emphasized enough. BPG would print money if mount skins existed. Combat overhaul sounds cool and all, but it's the last thing that needs a massive change atm. Doesn't matter how neat the combat is, we still have nothing meaningful to fight over.
LOL you are so wrong 1. Hearing about this and the territory control brought ME back after having written RoA off as "not a REAL MMORPG" many months ago. And it's a statistical fact that these changes appeal more to normies which WE NEED to have a truly populated game (which is the #1 most important thing to ALL of us) 2. The people bitching and panicking the MOST have been here nonstop through every version and even stuck with 2012 DFO and the first and last year of UW so there's no way they're leaving even if they DON'T like all the changes (which they have yet to try or even thoroughly read) Those people are gaurunteed money, they have no where else to go. They'll adapt and keep playing especially if it brings in desperately needed fresh blood --- Post updated --- I like most of the changes, and I stomped you out in every previous version/meta so i guess that makes you terribad? Also LOL @ your total failure to realize most of the REAL best players beat the game, got bored, and quit a looong ass time ago You're literally the derogatory leftover from your scenario that thinks he's the shit because almost all the top competition already left Wake up --- Post updated --- The #1 priority should be doing whatever will actually get the most people in game playing, especially new ones
The only time you would of "stomped" me was my first half a year of df and I had a horrible computer, average character, and horrible ping. You weren't stomping on me in UW. The best players already left? All of those so called good players came back for uw and roa alpha/beta. They had a rude awakening, just like you will have if you start playing.
