Our goals as always have been to keep the core of the game the amazing gem that it was and mostly focus on adding new content. As has been stated from the beginning there won't be hidden changes everything will be publicized. Users will be involved in the development process and a dev forum section will be open for all those participating in the Alpha/Beta to weigh in. We'll be partnering with the community to ensure the voice of the players is heard. It doesn't mean we'll take every suggestion or feedback thrown at us mind you, but we'll be listening and responding to player feedback regularly as we do already.

I would also like to point out of obvious. If they make a "class" where someone is just melee archery. How would you, as a destroyer combat that? You wouldn't. Its retarded. Leave combat as is. Make more specs, sure but don't limit those who want what they played darkfall for, no limits. Don't change combat, add more content imo. This is a pointless and waste of time discussion this same guy keeps bringing up. Xipher confirmed.

RoA is quickly getting close to be dead in the water. The fact that they claim not to be nervous is telling a lot about their professionalism.

On the One hand you have DnD who's making all those retarded changes to combat (wut). On the other hand, you have RoA making bold claims of superiority but who still dont have a license deal.

Godspeed to both DnD and RoA but I fear that both projects are doomed and were so the day there was more than 1.

OMG, do you need some medicine to boost your endorphins? Where are you from? I bet a country where they prescribe stimulants and sedatives to young children to make the Pharma companies happy.....

Read a book, watch a film, go out and have fun (or maybe look for a job), relax, a week, a month, few months, how long it takes it takes, are you mayfly?

    Regards

What the fuck? If they're too late to the party, there's a good chance people wont bother switching because they are too invested. This is not such a hard concept to graps but hey, I remember you from forumfall. I think I banned you too, haha.

That's an incredibly premature thing to say. New Dawns 1 month headstart is a drop in the ocean and given the size of RoA as an operation they've no doubt done a ton more behind the scenes work than New Dawn.

I feel more reassured that RoA are taking their time with this. New Dawn appear the ones to be rushing out the gate to get a server up ASAP with a fat box price and that tells me all I need to know.

Players won't switch versions of the game simply because one is released before the other. They're going to be two different games, given the changes each will be making.

I agree with this, but how many weeks/months behind can they fall before it does become a problem.

From what DnD have posted, the "test" server will be up in a few weeks time.
I say "test" because it will just be running the 2012 DFO version.
Only being taken down during specific weekends where they plan on testing the various changes they want to make (mostly combat based).
They want players trying out the game, remembering bindings, movement, aim with spells.
All the small things that you practice by playing the game.

So given that the test server will be running that old version, i think many people will be wanting to play.
Even if you dont like (m)any of the idea's DnD are wanting to implement.
Untill they launch their live server, which is 9-12 months away (at least). This will be the DFO we know. (minus the few weekends of testing)

If RoA get their server up, you can pick. But if im 2 months into char development on the DnD server. Got some bank build up and im enjoying myself. Why bother switching?
Both are going to have the exact same thing running for quite some time.

Ofcourse, as RoA patch the game with tweaks. Its going to start changing.
And once DnD go for their actual game launch, that game is going to be completely different.
But a wipe will happen for both games.
You cant let people have a headstart, so its about playing the time in beta where you know the game is what it is.
And after the real launches, there's a choice to be made.

So in that regard, there is some merit to being first.

^ this 100%. Even if some old vets will play DnD because it launch before what's matter is the official launch, players not into DnD changes will never play ot at release no matter what.
Majority of old veteran playerbase is here in force to play RoA.

DND Will require a massive list of features to support the game mechanic changes they have planned. It's going to be in a beta hell for long after RoA is released.

This is reliable and possible but, at least for me, is worth the wait.

The irony is that ROA is going to by far be the more sandbox edition of the game with the much larger population, yet if you try play here everyone is just going to kill you on sight.

ROA will have a balanced grind, meaningful specialisations and deployable dynamic buildings and you'll have an irreparable reputation and be stuck waiting for ND 2028.

I think a lot of people will switch to the game they want to support. I don't really see an issue with switching chars in versions that are going to be wiped anyway. Besides being a noob is always fun and often the best part of the game, especially when everyone else is starting out at the same level.

I completely agree with this post. Both companies are releasing a game that ALL of us have been desiring for some time but if RoA is months behind then its going to be hurting in the player count. I know for sure that I will play RoA regardless of when it comes out. I grinded multiple characters on DFO so grinding multiple chars between RoA and DND are no problem but if the player base is in DND that is where I will be. Last thing I want to do is play DFO by myself.

Agreed. I am going to play RoA rather than DnD due to Global Banking :)
