Title: -Combat was relatively DFO still, but with nice QoL changes (macros, hotbars, UI etc) -The grind was not as long as DFO, maybe 1/4 the total time to be viable -Scribing was relevant, possibly the best addition to Darkfall was the scribing skill in this iteration -Holdings were treated as they were in DFO, portals, mines, nodes, buffs etc -Beta uphold the same exacty gameplay and spirit as DFO without diverging too far away and I miss it so so much ---------------------------- I would restart my entire character and bank tomorrow if a server launched in the exact same state RoA Beta ended in. + New Mount/Weapon skins Adding new monsters, new things to mine, fish, chop, new skins etc from there is how I always imagined RoA to be 2+ years after launch ./rant/opinion
THIS. what happened? devs took matters into their own hands to (subjectively) 'enhance' a game they felt was now theirs. now it's never going back to its roots. whatta ya gonna do?
so basically bpg shouldnt have fucked with combat, progression, and fast travel, but should have focused on content and NPE? wow shocker, who would have thought
I literally LOVED the notion of travelling to various villages to SHOP at player vendors! That beloved house-feature was literally DESTROYED with market, making obtaining everything both extra easy and lowering cost of everything plus also increasing inflation! If you think about it, it was a convenient feature but this game wasn't always about convenience, but travel, exploration, and utilizing the vendors in a way that made villages unique!
I enjoyed the shit out of beta. If they’d just added Marketplace, F2P and done meaningful TC, it would have been a thing of beauty.
Aside from the damage scaling being fucked up that we discovered halfway through beta, I enjoyed it the most by far. Were portable villages in beta? Those are alright too I guess. I do love the market though. Oh, also it had indestructible so it’s a beta>current imo.
The biggest reason beta RoA was better is that during that time we actually had some faith left in BPG. They had not gone full 'F U COMMUNITY WE KNOW BEST' yet. I will admit kilrain has been making some positive steps in communication and discussion lately, but I feel like its too little too late. We will see. I hope they turn it around DFO is still my favorite game of all time.
Reformed Kilrain has restored my faith in him. Not in BPG, just him. I don't think anything short of a miracle could make me believe in this company again.
I got called a retard and got banned for "being toxic". They don't like when you don't like their ideas or steps they have taken.
Honestly, communication and discussion and polls mean absolutely nothing when actions speak louder than words, and we seldom see actual progress and patches and changes and expansions or even video presentations of new stuff to come. They can post and discuss whatever they want to please us, but are they coding? Can they please reply by actually coding in our desired changes rather than stretching out time and excuses? Eta embers?
Post was moved to memory lane category. Nice that a mod read it but his only response was to move it. Pretty sure there's no goodwill to ever return the game to a state where it was genuinely better
I never ever got banned or muted so i don't know what you talking about. I think you guys don't only disagree, but you insult them on an other level which i never do.
