i play 10 min and my eyes are crying..... TEXTTTUUUUUREEE NOOO MOOOOORE
good and original question
@kilrain bring the light
--- Post updated ---
maybe in this weekend.... ?
I don't really get the problem people are having with the textures, I barely notice any difference maybe its just my settings. However dam the double casts, weapon locks and ghost whirl winds are out of control.
Some of the textures are improvements, specifically some of the gear and ground textures like the sand looks cool..... But a lot of the ones you see a whole lot like trees and shit are def not. The constant load lagging from those textures however isn't wanted no matter what and makes none of them worth it. Makes me wonder if some weird server/client interaction involving textures on players wasn't the original cause for the load lag.... because load lag wasn't originally even in the game early on. It was 'added' at some point.
I bet the new textures aren't set to be loaded into virtual memory or something and just get loaded every single time one comes into range.
Seems strange that offline files would cause such a problem. Not really something other games see in normal cycles of updating.
or at least a eta for a patch?
Patch has been in final QA for the past few days just running into some final hiccups. Early next week would be a fair estimate.
It's only been a month guys, calm yo titties
Thank you kind sir! Really appreciate the communication.
Damn still a few more days at least
Back to winning the war for mother russia.
BGP has said this about past patches/updates "Early next week" and it is usually Friday/Saturday before we hear/see anything.
The problem with textures was the way they were saved. There are I believe 3 or 4 specific settings depending on what the texture does or how it's meant to be displayed. We made a mistake and they were all saved using the most robust setting, hence the reason for the lag. The decision to not revert was due to the size of the patches involved. We already had 2 1gb sized updates in one week and in consideration for those with slower or limited bandwidth internet decided to hold of until we knew there would only be 1 more large update for textures alone. The reason it has taken this long to get where we are is the individual working on the textures had to go through each type, nearly every texture (remember, there are over 5k textures) and figure out what was the best setting, meaning smallest w/o compromise, for each one. Then actually going in game to make sure some didn't get destroyed in the process. There may still be some lingering textures out there though, so when the patch does come we hope you guys spot them all
Jesus we all owe that guy a beer
@DeadlyHit Drop your paypal for beer.
Russian dogs. Us Germans will... lose the war because we suck dick at the game apparently.
Second look at staff crafting? Adding more wilderness portals? Anything like that to be expected or is it just fixing textures (needs to happen)?
I'm gonna get my pokatexture ball out and catch em all!
