Personally my Ray Cycle is: Impale Dragonsbreath Unholy Caress Insect Swarm Lightning Bolt Frostbite Then I have a 2nd ray key that does the same cycle in reverse to prioritize the two rays that go through objects: Frostbite Lightning Bolt That way when people cut corners on me, I shoot them through the corner.
Impale > dragonsbreath > unholy caress > frostbite (Idk if it's just my intensify or what, but mine is hitting hard) > insect swarm
This is my order as well. I'm considering moving Impale down now however, as arcane is becoming standard

I use impale first because I believe that all Darkfall players are stupid and lazy and won't wear arcane jewelry but will wear some kind of basic armor. That's my plan until people start proving me wrong, then I will move impale down in the rotation until late game when the dragon bags come out.
Why impale is not balanced: - Temporarily Blinds 90% of characters - Is draggable (same as water ray) so it's easier to land. - Potential to do highest damage if opponents have no jewelery - 2x Shorter cooldown than other rays (thanks DarkGhost25) Some rays have 1 (or 2 weaker) unique features, while impale has 3 4 of them. Go figure why everyone's using it
Mine is exactly the same also have a second key for frostbite n lighting bolt. Main rays: On right click Frostbite/lightning bolt : On tab
a lot of people I've been running into have rings now so I use unholy caress for the mana dmg Unholy>Dragonbreath>impale
The reason impale and pungent mist were buffed to the level they are now - was AV needed a way to make the Earth Magic line more viable. No one was rolling earth in 1.0 and it was sad to see a wasted school. Which, these spells, are by far, among the buffs, the best reasons to grab the Earth Spell school line. Would you still be leveling your earth magic if you didn't get these spells? Are the required to compete? The blind, vs the high damage, is out done by the stamina that is not taken away by this spell. And it becomes almost utterly useless once players have an active defense against this.
Yea, I recently switched from using unholy carress first to impale because the blind is so damn annoying (granted, I'm a dwarf - does it blind me more?). Are you sure it is draggable? Definitely does not feel draggable as frostbite and lighting one does.
It's not as evident as frostbite, but when testing it in low ping environment it was dragable. It also has a small aoe too if I'm not mistaken (trolls use to damage themselves if you stand at pointblank range and they land it on you), although that's not really an advantage worth listing for PvP, as it's negligible.
