Yeah Impale doesn't do shit now against arcane protection.. not sure why so many still have it as main..
the small blind on a small cool down I assume. And once destro's are rolling full infernal it will hit harder than most others I believe
Well, when you're in 3 piece Full Plate as a mage with bone fillers, your magic protections with 3.0 buffs are 14.5 to 15.8 (Holy/Unholy). Which means the maximum arcane protection you can have is 15, so Impale is only worse when your opponents wear shit gear. 3 piece FP and above makes it the best ray for damage overall. And that's counting all armor pieces as the lowest roll possible.
Females are partially blinded by it from what I remember, but males have incredibly high cameras and don't suffer from any impale blind.
Time to get some edumucation up in here... 95 archmage with 50 intensify fire / air. In this order is how my alt / mage does the 5 rays that I have to 75. Unholy Caress Frostbite Dragonbreath Impale Lightning Bolt Also have another bind that prioritizes Frostbite / Lightning Bolt. Anywho.. Impale is only better (pure damage, not looking at stat drain) against no arcane protection or against full heavy aka a siege. /thread
k so I'm wrong, Unholy caress does about 3-4 more damage per hit to a target in 3p FP than impale. Other buffed Impale takes over. Then same for destro gear.
Plus the stam / mana drains. Almost nobody buff others cold so frostbite is a hidden gem. Unholy is also rarely buff othered. ( I have yet to receive either of those buff others and I'm a destro)
3-4 more damage + stam loss + mana loss and i was wearing 3p infernal not 3p FP. I have never other buffed anyone with anything other than fire/lightning, there usually isnt time to do anything more than haste/rapid and ironskin and maybe one ward. I used to do infliction but no one uses toxic anymore so i dont do that at all. Impale was good early game since it was easy to get and spam with low cooldown but as soon as you level your necro and get caress you should not be doing it first anymore.
Nice data, but does 2 damage worth more than blind for a second? I'd take a blind over 2 damage any day. Another thing is, average players do not have rings, unless its a siege.
