Premium Accounts vs Free Accounts

    Hi everyone,

    We will be releasing an update today on our plans to work towards a Freemium release. The purpose of this thread is to discuss what benefits/incentives Premium Accounts should have and what restrictions/limitations should be placed on Free Accounts.

    Premium Accounts will cost the same per month as the current subscription does, and our Game Time Tokens will be used to add 30-days of Premium time to an account.

    Free Accounts will be able to access the game without any financial barrier and will have the choice to upgrade their account to a Premium Account at any time, or can utilize a Game Time Token in-game to accomplish the same thing.

    Please feel free to list any suggestions you may have as this is an open discussion, and we appreciate any feedback you can provide.

    Are you intending to move up the freemium transition as a result of the free period?

    Increased tax on prices on Market or complete restriction / trades per day limit.
    Limit on billboard teleports / disabled.
    Increased meditation costs / restrictions

    It's been an intended move since far before the F2P period, but the recent activity has probably served as a boon toward finalizing their decision on the transition.

    I feel like free accounts shouldn’t count towards a clans total when it comes to how many it takes to siege a holding?

    I know this would probably be hard to do but I can also see it being abused to get more siege stones down

    This is on the right track, It should be quality of life things that don't take away from the core aspects of the game.

    One potential issue that comes to mind would be active players abusing the ability to make multiple accounts, allowing them to join other clans outside of their alliance to track down players. For example I could join another alliance and pose as a new player, and see all their system messages/ clan chat. I know some of that already goes on with discord, but it's something to consider (maybe limit sys messages for f2p?)

    Really like the idea of going F2P. Only restrictions i would say would be like F2P users cant get or use housing. Maybe even cap them from being able to make mastery items? Also from last weeks village update "We hope to follow this up next week with an overhaul to the Trade Routes loot tables." is this still gonna be done this week?

    Its 5 a Hamlet 10 a city. It bugged when they changed this.
    1 person to siege unless they fixed it.

    also maybe 25% less gold loot all around?

    Not able to have mastery crafting or only one choice of mastery crafting.

    Max stats at 100

    Cant own a house
    Cant own a city but only hamlets.

    Higher taxes on market

    Higher travel costs on billboard

    Maybe free accounts have higher degradation of armor/weapons.

    We are going to need some gold sinks due to the Influx of new players.

    Double market fees, you want simple qol things that make people want to go premium you don't want it to be p2w with character limitations that affect pvp such as pvp skills and attributes

    I'm not fine with capping skills, attributes
    fine with capping crafting

    I would say that f2p should have no limits for newbs, and decent limits for when you go decent-ish. Something along the lines of no crafting masteries for starters.

    Higher market fees/taxes and can't own housing for sure. No runebooks/billboards? A bit rough, but newbs should not be using either much. Or, way more expensive.

    Can't use any titles or skins for sure.

    Also, if wearing master crafting gear they shouldn't be able to make themselves, it should degrade 1,5-2x faster.

    An alternate approach would be to just hamper f2p with massive gold costs everywhere, so if you play even a fair bit, say 20-25 hours per month, it ends up being more feasible to buy game time token or pay a subscription.

    Say, 2-3x the crafting costs, captal recall costs gold like it used to, runebooks cost 2-3k on top of shards, 5x the market fees/taxes, a flat fee of ~~150-200g for accessing a crafting station. Could be given a nice lore-ish justification of you not being favoured by the guilds or the like, hence the additional fees.

    Only qol changes. Anything that effects gameplay or is considered p2w is a big turn off for me.

    Premium sub only skins.

    Limited bank space for f2p

    Unable to use blessed tools for f2p

    Limited runebooks for f2p

    I think alot of these ideas are extreme. The objective should be to make premium appealing without hampering the F2P experience. Most new players will be sticking to F2P until they can justify purchasing the game, so by limiting their progression and putting high costs on everything (they wont know how to make gold) they will have more incentive to quit rather than buy a premium sub. You want them to enjoy the game, then pay for additional QoL stuff.

    What if they could technically max skills / spells / stats but f2p accounts had a debuff on them that capped skills / spells to 3 and stats to 100

    Pay the premium, debuff comes off, this way they can still level their character at the same time to max
