So then practically what is the difference between the character grind and the item grind? Both of them can have a severe impact on your ability to pvp, so why is the item grind any better?

A clan can also help a casual player grind their skills. Scrolls are a thing now.

i would like to see all the magic schools unlocked from the beginning so you can pick and choose your build.. Not skilled up mind you, but they're all accessible from the start. With the skill rate the way it is, this would open up game play to noobs to pick their spells and not feel like they don't have what the poopsockers have while still giving them enough to work on, play with, and learn from..

maybe increase the rate of mastery 1-56 on melee weapons..

Do you not even see the incredible flaw in your argument?

    Grind = Content?

So if there is no grind, everyone will quit?

What happens in a month or 2 when everyone is maxed? They will quit, right?

I didn't say that, you did. That is your argument against decreasing the grind.

Yes this is the case for literally every MMORPG out there.

Sorry if I've offended any of you with my opinions, but you're not going to have any constructive discussion without some conflicting viewpoints mixed in.

    it's too late

everyone concerned with grind either already quit or never played to begin with

everyone left is a turbonerd who thinks autoclicking for months is skillful and interesting

Ya I've played mmo's that u can max your character easy and its not good. People claim it will retain new players better cuz they can get to pvp easy but then everyone gets bored and quits cuz all they can do is pvp cuz theres no progression cuz you are already maxed in a week.

And if the only grind is gear people cry that game is gearbased till devs nerf gear too. Then theres literally no point in the game besides failed arena pvp thats too much effort to get.

I'm sure Reckful loved the idea of the game, until he realized what he actually had to do...to play the game.

The grind is literally a brick wall in front of players preventing them from playing the game. People quit because the game has a low pop and no content. Not because they weren't forced to fire 1000 spells a day to grind magic and refarm the same set of gear for the 100th time.

Reduce the grind, increase the incentive to PvP. Introduce PvP activities. This is a PvP game, not a "shoot mobs in the face game with an occasional siege every few weeks" game.

I want to play Darkfall. But rushing to market doesn't help anyone.

Yup you're wrong. So it's no wonder ST likes your post

Guild wars 2 - no character grind, tons of players pvping

Ffxiv - short character grind, retains players with new pve content

Wow - short character grind, retains players with new pve content

Eve - no character grind, characters naturally increase in strength over time. Also possible to purchase strong characters with real currency - retains players with unparalleled sandbox possibility

League - short char grind 1-30, retains players with good gameplay, matchmaking, and new content (champions)

Csgo - no char grind, retains players with good gameplay and matchmaking

Pubg - no char grind, attracts players with good gameplay

Literally the only games that are successful due to grinding are Chinese or Korean MMOs like maple story or age of wulin

Lol lists a ton of non mmo's, and the mmo's nobody I know wants to play anymore.

If you want insta pvp no effort required go play a press play to matchmake game. Not a mmo. If you want to actually play a mmo, you need things to actually do. Turning mmo's into an arena game just makes a failed arena game.

I can say now if there was no grind or progression required I and many others wouldnt even consider touching this game. I play it for a open pvp mmo, not arena 24/7 ez no risk no reward combat.

Practically, if I kill you, you drop your gear -- I can't loot your skills or stats.

I'll just say this, I didn't grind as much in DF1 cause I could macro... I'm close to done with like every magic school around 65-75 and I don't want to anymore. I then go out to pvp and the only people who fight are done characters cycling 90s. This is my experience. I will say that I am at the point that skill can overcome some of that but not in my case :p Also will say the grind isnt in a bad spot outside of 90s... But I personally dont enjoy the PVE in this game. Some people do... Its just tedious for me. I am burnt after like 1 or 2 sessions of bolting over and over and over again on mobs that run away from you if you leash them.

Man how ever did Itwas Luck stick with this game. His bank had more infernal+ and r60s+ than I had plate and r40s and im sure he was maxed for a long time. He also had over 10M gold.

Wonder what he did with all his time if he wasn't bolting down cairn Giants?
