The world of Agon is vast and beautiful, but it can be an arduous journey many times when trying to get somewhere or meet up with your friends. As part of our effort to make Rise of Agon more casual friendly from a time commitment perspective, it is necessary to reduce the tedium and time associated with traveling the world. The following are the changes we have in mind to work on right away, and we are opening up this thread to have an open dialogue on these topics. Add more wilderness portals around the world of Agon with more efficient networks Implement a proper capital portal loop within the NPC capital cities Create portal hubs ("train stations") that provide many options for travel destinations Allow players the ability to "Summon Friend" using portal shard recipe New skill “Resurrection” - Aim at a players grave and cast this spell. Once completed the owner of the grave will receive a popup message asking if he wants to be resurrected. The player accepts and is teleported back to their grave. Long cooldown - Long cast time. Reduce recall times Reduce time to mark a runestone outside of a player city Add Runebook system and increase ways to utilize runestones and other materials Another option: Ability to choose nearest available bindstone on death.
The portal changes should have been in since the start to be honest but they will be welcomed. While you're at it, think about adding some blue only portals that will make being blue even better. Once you discover a portal it should show up on your map. If you reduce recall times, make it louder and more obvious and disrupted by any damage. It's already pretty short and you can get out of tight spots with it quite successfully. What are your thoughts on adding portal chambers back to player cities? Perhaps with a different feature set to make them more interesting.
Any thoughts on the possibility of faster mounted travel (bluetail)? Who is going to harvest all the chaos chests and payprus when people start teleporting for 90% of their travel. Not knocking the runestone, portal ideas, but I would still like to have a fast, fragile mount. Specifically designed for gathering chaos chest would be pretty cool, too.
I really dislike summon. Removing tedium is one thing, this basically just encourages laziness. I get what the intent is, but it will hardly ever be used as such. If the portal network is efficient enough this isn't needed.
Yeah runestone changes don't do much without a buff to their drop rate. Unless the runebook system is a permanent runestone location which seems a bit silly to me. To be honest I think fast travel might help out the no life PK'ers more than it helps out the casual sheeps. Casual sheeps are probably chilling at a single location trying to survive and don't move much while PK'ers are moving all the time hunting for the sheeps that are hiding. Just my 2 cents.
I liked all the suggestions! I wish the player would not be ganked automatically when dying to MOBs, just getting dropped for a while, I think this helps new players not to give up.
10v10 happens, one side wins, other side has 2 players left. 2 players chain res the entire friendly force back to the area (person who just got ressed resses the next person and so on). Is this cool? Would it defeat the purpose if you could only res people who died to PVE? I would really look into just closing the gaps with the current portal network (move them a bit so there's less running between some) and hold off on big hubs. Put the core portals on the map, and until you've been able to implement that, disclose all the portal coords so we can add it to the external map. Keep some secret maybe, but not the important portal loop ones. If the portal is there to reduce tedium, it should be public knowledge Can I only res someone's latest body, or is any grave OK? Add big up front stat costs to resser and summon the dead person in at low stats, to discourage combat resses
All of the stuff you guys thought of are cool ideas to reduce traveltime/tedium.. but that kind of stuff won't bring back old players or retain new players. The main focus needs to be on NPE to and content to keep people logging in each day.
Id like to see capitol city teleport hubs to encourage players to remain blue, AND i would like to see a more well thought out, efficient, wilderness portal system for everyone else.
There are plenty of wilderness portals, you just need to change the exit points in a rational way. Something like this for the existing mainland portals, which provides a counterclockwise loop, a clockwise loop, cross hops, and hops to each of the subcontinents. Orklands is a bit of a deadzone, so adding one or two entrances there for the loops, and then using the exisiting ones for crosshops or a hop to Yssam would be good. Another idea, which wouldn't require adding anything physical to the world, is have the mage in each capital city give you the ability to port to each other capital city for a fee, preferably (for my taste) ending up somewhere about 1k outside the city. Do the same for Chaos cities.
Have all portals go both ways, that would help. Good stuff though, runebook would be sick if its multi use and no drop so we can get back into action right away.
