Top end destros can normally win a toe to toe melee but the average player not so much

Agreed. I'm a destro main and I still much prefer their playstyle before all these combat changes despite them being better now. Glass cannon destro all the way.
Destro used to be more of a stealth surprise attacker during group fights. Had to avoid toxic and 90 syncs while sniping enemy backlines and wrecking staff wielders from behind. Now they can just flop all over the place reeking havoc with less consequence due to resisting but harder time with lower back dmg

How unfathomable for a class pigeon holed into pure archery and melee be able to out archer and melee a mage that has endless array of utility, cc, debuffs, and movement. Despite the speed buff, it's really not that crazy for a melee class to be eligible to excel at melee is it? lol. Next show a video comparing the amount of blinds and CC both classes have....feel free to use Hasten Spells.

The next 60 seconds express the most genuine sentiment about combat revert from 2 experienced players. It's so easy and chill to have conversations like this with players, I really wish BPG would atleast chat about it with us.

Hey guys just popping in to say yes we are alive and we will be having a more official update coming out soon.
To be Frank December kicked our ass and we lost a lot of speed on the key TCS pieces. We're back at it now but definitely not as far along by a lot as we'd hoped. We did have some good breakthroughs on graphic engine improvements and dyes/new skin options including a new mount in the works as well as a revamp of the skins system to be more universal for all items. The current system works for things like weapons and some Armour pieces but it cannot handle mounts or certain Armour pieces that swap out character textures such as chests, legs and robes. With the new system we are close to finishing up dyes and a complete reskin system that will allow us to add in more of everything from mobs to full armour sets and mounts to animated buildings etc. There's new shaders going in and conversion tools to allow us to use modern software to insert into the engine with higher resolution capability.
Performance is a concern of course and is being looked at as well in tandem. We obviously value playability over pretty graphics so we don't want to ruin large scale fights with heavy performance loss.
We will be getting a siege window system on test soon as that portion is nearing ready which we're calling Activity Windows. This will allow you to set an active and invulnerable time for being sieged. Coupled with this are a series of buffs to various clan gathering rates for things like mines and Platinum during your activity window. It is not just siege protection and is being designed in a way to encourage clans to set the active time to their clan's active time to reap the financial benefit. If they try to put the invulnerable time in their prime time they will lose out on the economic benefits when their clan isn't as active. This is to encourage players to not be "cheesing" by putting the invulnerability time in the server's main peak time unnecessarily. This will allow players to sleep at night knowing they won't need to defend midnight sieges and the cheapest/easiest time to siege a clan will be their active time. There's an off peak time as well which will allow sieges but be more costly and have various benefits to the defenders. We'll give more specifics once we have the prototype almost ready for the public test server.
In terms of the combat revert we are still going to do it but it got more complicated than we hoped with the voting results ending up in obvious balance issues. We will look to keep any specific pieces that are popular but not balance breaking while reverting the rest. We'll have this available on pts once it is complete for players to provide feedback. We want to stick to community feedback as much as possible as we promised. With many of the options being extremely close in votes and the obvious balance issues we see arising however we had to interpret the best result to move forward.
