RoA on UE4?

    It would not work because UE4 is an engine that cannot handle lots of players in one server. Just look at how much desync and lag PUBG has when the servers are maxed at 100 players.

    Even the developers of UE4 have said that anything more than 100 players isn't recommended. You would have to do an insane amount of custom backend server building, which at that point you might as well code your own custom game engine (which is what AV did)

    Actually... The client to client hosting is capped at a hundred players. The server/client and client/server can handle significantly more at cost of other resources/performance in some cases, but it handles MMOs quite well from the ground up. I can believe this for private use maybe, like the free UDK. But the purchased source you can do whatever you want with, change connection caps even.

    Remake RoA? No. Make a new game? I'd contribute my dollars. Getting a license isn't cheap. It takes time, lawyers, and negotiations as well at times. The problem after is development time (unless you buy assets, you're just stuck with the engine) for audio, graphic assets, interface, stat systems, etc.

    Sure you can grab the UDK for private use pretty cheap, but take a look at the royalties and fees for a commercially published product, add in time and asset costs. It's not cheap to make a game.

    This has yes to be proved as no one has made an mmo with UE4 where thousands are connecting and playing. And, like I said, the only way for it to happen is with custom built networking in the background which would take a long time to build. So, might as well build your own engine at that point.

    Well no, a new would be a lot costlier in time and resources. Using a prebuilt is fine...
    There are more components than just a "game engine" in a game engine. You have an audio engine, graphic engine, interface engine, networking engine. and more. It's not a lump of one page of code or anything. Think of it more as a library or an API. You can quite literally do whatever you want with any aspect of any engine when you have it's source.

    UE4 is free, you start paying after you start making profit.

    But yeah, not a good idea anyway ;)

    It would help the pipeline immensely and content could be created much faster. Do they have time for it? Nawww
    Don't rly think it's the engines fault for Pugb being laggy xD
