I have not tested anything, but i'm afraid of the following symbole: %. They messed-up combat with this thr first time. So i'm not looking forward for the new robes already.
Please jump on the test server and give it a shot. It's actually really balanced right now. Plus they reintroduced mage killer/indestructible.
@Fengor We did it Indestructible is back buddy <3
When a prospective player thinks of mages they are not envisioning how mages currently look, they think of characters like Gandalf and Elminster. People expect mages to wear robes in video games, just like how they would be put off by a seven foot tall, skinny dwarf, it's about expectations, we're talking about staples of fantasy.
Gandalf is also a melee god: practically hybrid just like us in DF.
In GOT recently (latest episode)
i have seen somebody in robe meeleing
Maybe, but I don't see his infernal helmet or bone fillers
I'm fine with robes, that's graphics elements to me. I'm worried about everything else.
Don't care about looks nearly as much as gameplay.
sauron the dark wizard necromancer?
guy was in full fkin heavy
Gameplay > Expectations of fantasy tropes
idk dude i wanna run around in my badass armored robes
There are many examples of battle mages, especially in D&D fantasy. Nearly every major MMO has some form of mage like RoA currently has. Hell... Gandalf wielded an enchanted sword that had +3 rolls against orks and goblins.
Instead of complaining about stuff you haven't tested, join the tester role on Discord and give your actual feedback. You can still wear a hybrid set and it's actually slightly stronger atm on PTS.
But I wanna complain!
Personally, I have not tested the new stuff at all, but based on what I have heard there is not too much reason for me to bother. My biggest problem with the patch is not that you want to make the armors make more sense in terms of what roles they fill, but that you guys have decided to go the route of altering combat again when you know that did not work out the first 2 or 3 times you tried it. People want new activities, content, and sandbox features added to the game, not combat stuff.
Combat has not been altered it's just different armors with the same combat, everything has been reverted that was polled and personally I think it plays much better than live atm with reduced splash radius and higher ttk.
I knew about the reverts, and those are good things to bring back. With the Armors, my understanding is that there was magnitude on robes etc, which was creating a lot of imbalance, and perhaps unforeseen alterations to combat. Again, I don't know for sure if that is the whole story, but that is where my concerns lie.
This is why you should join in on testing, magnitude on robes was removed about a week ago.
I'll consider it, but I have a lot of complaining scheduled already. Don't know if I'll have enough time.
COMBAT IS FINE, EVERYTHING WORKS AS INTENDED GO BACK TO DND
