Something is off about the level of skills after latest patch. When test server was first available, all skills were displaying proper levels. However, now all skill are displaying random low values. Possible that the issue is only the number displayed because starting with 0 1h axe skill i was gaining levels and abilities at odd intervals. For example see the included image. Image is after ~50 hits with 1h axe and gaining disabling blow, knockback, seize, and power attack at a skill level of 1.65.
To piggy back on this a bit. All my spells at 75 currently appear as 3.84. Ive also noticed it takes 8 scrolls to get them to grade 4 from that number. Is it intentional to not give rank 75 spells grade 4?
the skills are now split into 5 sections, 1-19, 20-39, 40-59, 60-79, 80-100 - each of these sections is a "level" so in your example you are level 3 and 84% on your way to level 4. I've also changed the grades that use to be 25, 50, 75, 100 to 20, 40, 60, 80, 100 so it matches the new system. Each of the new "levels" will increase your magnitude by 2%, give you the increased aoe size and also takes 5x as much to level up. We reduced the difference between a new character and a max character, on a per skill basis, so in order to provide positive feedback through the leveling process it seemed most logical to reduce the total number of levels. That way, when you reach a new level you actually see the difference, each level actually does something. I think the biggest flaw is how these new levels are currently displayed. Some have suggested using a 5 star system and have them fill up as you gain experience. Each full star would equal a new level. I think something along those lines, where there is a more clear visual indicator that you are gaining experience and when you reach a new level would be best. Also want to note that surging currently still functions the same way, you reach level 5 you surge, you get the extra 2% boost in damage and your skill then reverts back to the top end of level 4. We'll be looking at making some changes to that mechanic a bit as well so people will keep their level 5 2%. One thought I had was to make the SFX actually random. Not sure yet.
Alright can help you out, think are the pts updated with the current patch that is suppose to go live tomorrow?
The the 2% random surge at makes makes a whole lot more sense then your skill decreasing. Not a fan of too much random in combat, but this case seem fairly tame while having some potential cool moments.
question about the skillgain that will be released on live servers, will it be the same 10x skillgain as the one from pts?
This is odd because I was wondering maximum aoe size of magma fireball wof etc. And was told 3.7 was. However it is now 4.0? I appreciate the knowledge
