With the new 0.7 R50 staff just out I thought I would show you all the damage the different rank fast staves can do. My char is a Alfar has 120 Int and R5 in the spell used which was Exploding Charge with Speed with 0 magic encumberance against a naked human. Staff Name- Rank -Durability -Magnitude -Damage- Increase over BB - % Increase over BB Black Bolt -- R40 -- 176.29 -- 0.07 -- 51.0 -- 0 -- 0.00% Sortleige -- R50 -- 225.5 -- 0.11 -- 51.5 -- 0.5 -- 0.98% Spiritchaser -- R60 -- 312.4 -- 0.15 -- 51.9-- 0.9 -- 1.76% Cobrastaff -- R80 -- 357.4 -- 0.25 -- 52.6 -- 1.6 -- 3.14% There is only a 1.6 damage per hit or 3.27% damage increase difference between a Blackbolt and a Cobra. Its the enchant that really makes the difference in magnitude. Make of this what you will. --- Post updated --- I edited it so it was spaced out nice and now its all squished togther again. anyone know how to do a table in this forum?
Riddle me this... Darkscepter has higher magnitude but does less damage than a .39 Sortiledge and a .35 blackbolt .11 Sortiledge does only 1 damage less than a .40 darksceptor
As armour is a straight deduction against damage the results are calulated below. Exploding Charge with Speed against a Human wearing Full Infernal (17 Lightning Protections) Staff Name -- Rank -- Durability -- Magnitude -- Damage -- Increase over BB -- Percentage Increase over BB Black Bolt -- R40 -- 176.29 -- 0.07 -- 34 -- 0 -- 0.00% Sortleige -- R50 -- 225.5 -- 0.11 -- 34.5 -- 0.5 -- 1.47% Spiritchaser -- R60 -- 312.4 -- 0.15 -- 34.9 -- 0.9 -- 2.65% Cobrastaff -- R80 -- 357.4 -- 0.25 -- 35.6 -- 1.6 -- 4.71%
111 int, 0 encumbrance Infernal/dragon mix (25.54 unholy, 15.5 arcane, 25.54 fire) .30 blackbolt (Q2-Q3) Lvl 5 Unholy flames (+damage) - 37.2 Lvl 4 Impale - 30.2 Lvl 4 Firebolt - 23.5.61 cobra (Q4) Lvl 5 Unholy flames (+damage) - 40.6 (+9%) Lvl 4 Impale - 33.2 (+10%) Lvl 4 Firebolt - 26.3 (+12%) Naked (.5 unholy, .5 arcane, .5 fire) .30 blackbolt (Q2-Q3) Lvl 5 Unholy flames (+damage) - 62.3 Lvl 4 Impale - 45.3 Lvl 4 Firebolt - 48.6.61 cobra (Q4) Lvl 5 Unholy flames (+damage) - 65 (+4.3%) Lvl 4 Impale - 48 (+6%) Lvl 4 Firebolt - 51.1 (+5.1%) I only tried each spell once and there's a little bit of RNG so numbers could be off by up to .5 in both directions, but this lines up with the ~1 damage per .10 magnitude that I expected. Against heavier armored targets, the difference between ranks is more significant. It'll be even more evident if you take rage, enchants, and cross buffs into account.
No, I was pointing out that the test on a naked isn't an accurate reflection of the actual differences in real gameplay.
"Intricate dark patterns adorn this staff granting Witchcraft and Necromancy spells enhanced power." The darkscepter does plus magnitude with witchcraft and necro. When staves have this they have negative magnitude for the other spells. Whether this should be changed is another discussion.
Originally it helped benefit those schools along with the magnitude meaning magnitude. Not magnitude isn't true
