Coming from the guy that can't grasp the need for an alpha section on the forums.

Its pretty clear why RoA have an alpha section on the forums.
Sadly they also commented on ongoing affairs (like the security breach) in this part of the forums...which quite a few people cant read.
Not the best thing to do, but i understand replying to questions in the thread they are posted in.

They've stopped doing that now however, ontop of giving us a person to summon to any thread of our liking to give us answers.

As for working together, i dont think forum policy is a very good means to gain deeper understanding as to why there isnt a joint effort in fixing security issue's.

But you know, you could use @MWTaylor Why arent BGP and Ub3rgames working together on solving the security issue's?
Its amazing what you can do when you actually ask questions to people that have answers.
Not that he has to answer, but this is more productive than talking shit.

Probably partly because of the way New Dawn behaved during Hussein-gate. Partly because New Dawn is in process to slowly convert to C++ instead of Java. BPG upgraded everything to the latest version of Java and so on.

Also, considering how New Dawns progress has languished over time. BPG is capable of finishing the task more quickly. Why would they give their work away to New Dawn?

What do you not understand that it clearly will not be the same? repeating the same assumption line is not taking anything anywhere.

Seriously dotix are you trolling this early in the morning or are you just retarded. The conversation is in regards to the current situation which is security fix. If BPG is ahead of DND and they can complete the security fix (task) with the same end result (i.e security is no longer compromised which is the end goal), then quicker is better. Do you understand now?

Beargrim actually made some really good points about why working together wouldnt work nearly as well as you'd hope.
DnD are trying to move away from using Java all together.
Its going to take a lot of time most likely, but everything is being remade because of this.
The blog mentioned Java being a fairly insecure option, so over time more and more aspects of the game are going to be harder to sniff out for potential hackers.
BGP has upgraded everything to the latest Java version, so their approach in fixing things isnt going to be similar at all.
Not sure if there is an objectively better way or not, but cooperation isnt going to offer either any help.

As for DnD's progress, im not sure its fair to say they work slower than BGP.
They havnt launched a test server, but there's progress posts about their patches which seem to be coming along nicely. Ofcourse, that's all just pretty words untill we can actually log in. But should give them the benefit of the doubt, they arent AV afterall.

Exactly what he said, and to add, now BPG has pretty specifically stated themselves that their "fast progress" is what got them in trouble in the first place. If DND had rushed things, they might have a server up too. or not. who the fuck knows, who the fuck cares? Stop making it about BPG vs DND. I don't care who is getting alphas out first. I care about the game succeeding, and the companies being straight up unlike AV.

very glad to see them accept responsibility, put more effort into communication and slow things down. Thats really what most of us "complainers" were asking for. BPG was acting really shitty, and we wanted an improvement. we got it. Pitchforks are put away and we all go home to jerk off and wait for the game to be back up.

First, New Dawn's progress hasn't languished.
Second, BPG finishing a task quicker is what got you in this situation in the first place.
Third, what does RoA have that DnD doesn't? A breached Alpha? No thanks. I think it's the other way around. It's ND that should be worried about giving away their work to RoA.

I dont really think DnD is going to be catering to carebear players.
While local banking does force a more regional type of play, it also gives players the option to get all up in another clans area and destroy/loot things that wasnt possible before.

I hope both games get the kind of population where a small elite group of no life players has almost no influence on the political landscape.
Simply because a very small population is going to get boring the longer the game goes.
Its supposed to be a game for up to 10k players online AT THE SAME TIME.
20, or even 50, no life kids are like a drop in the ocean then.

Wanting trading and transporting in the game is only going to increase the risk present.
I might not go for all the changes they want to implement, but it certaintly isnt going to be any less forgiving to the playerbase.
