Hello everyone! We have a lot of interesting things in development right now and would like to go over them. Some of these items may be familiar to veteran players although we have had a large influx of new players that may not know what is in store. Let’s dive right in.

    Relics in Development

We want to add excitement to pve by adding new rare loot. Relics are special items which will be equipped in your paper doll and will not drop on death. Each relic provides two stat bonuses and two stat penalties, all of varying amounts and types. Players will be hunting for relics with their stats of choice, both positive and negative *and* with optimal percentages. Up to three relics may be equipped at a time. Bonuses don’t stack but penalties do. Let’s have a look at a couple of possible stat lines.

    Peerless Relic
    • greatsword damage +7.21%
    • archery attack speed +6.01%
    • intelligence -11.41
    • health -5.11

    Immaculate Relic
    • exploding charge magnitude +10% (max value)
    • greataxe damage +8.96%
    • fire protection -3.11
    • wisdom -42

    Immaculate Relic
    • health +50 (max value)
    • physical protections +2.06
    • water magic magnitude -8.09%
    • mana regen -3.21%

As you can see, relics will have many interesting possibilities, shown here is just a glimpse of what is possible. With the right relics, you’ll be able to customize your playstyle, potentially leading you down new and exciting paths for both pve and pvp. Let’s look at how relics will be obtained.

Rare Loot - The Standard Method

Simply kill monsters of any difficulty and you might score a relic. If you’re lucky, it could be an extremely prized relic. All relics can drop from all monsters, however, more difficult monsters have a higher chance per kill to drop higher rarity relics. Whether you like hunting strong monsters or hunting waves of easier monsters, you will be finding relics!

    Crystal Hunting

Monsters in Yssam, Cairn, Rubaiyat, Niflheim, and the Watcher Wasters will drop regional crystals. Collect 200 crystals from each of these regions and you’ll be able to craft a random relic.

    Purchasing Relics

Simply go to the Arcanist NPC and buy random relics for a large price tag. The price is not finalized yet although it will be expensive and may serve as a fun option of relic acquisition for players with excess gold.

    Forsaken Items

Specific monsters will have very rare and powerful equipment exclusive to them. Forsaken items will have very low durability but will not drop on death, allowing you to enjoy their power until they break. The amount of durability we are planning for is 30 for armor pieces, which will be the first batch of forsaken items. Let’s have a look at some of the first forsaken items to come.

Devil’s Bracers -> Bracers of Torment (demon)

    • 0.10 necromancy magnitude
    • 0.10 witchcraft magnitude
    • +25% cursed bolt missile speed
    • -3 holy protection
    • -3 acid protection
    • 1 in 100 drop rate

Sadayel Headdress -> Gaze of Pain (wildtribe Shaka)

    • 10% cooldown reduction on eye rot
    • +50% spell duration
    • -10 wisdom
    • 1 in 125 drop rate

Minotaur King Helmet -> Helm of Savagery (minotaur king)

    • 5% better than dragon helm protections
    • +5 fire protection
    • -0.10 greater magic magnitude
    • -30 encumbrance
    • 1 in 75 drop rate

*Note* These bonuses do not stack with enchantments.

    Rare Timber Groves

A select few cities will have new rare timber-producing groves placed outside of their city walls. We want to see how this plays out and whether it would be a good idea to move city mines outside of their city walls as well in the future. This has been requested many times and we are certainly curious. Rare timber groves will make cities that have them very prized and we hope to see some epic sieges at these locations!

Darkfall Online Original Lore added to the Website

The original historical timeline, information on regions of Agon, and many other lore entries have been added. This is the bulk of the original lore, which has been touched up and has some minor changes to mesh well with Rise of Agon lore that has been added. In tandem with the Pantheon of Agon lore, we have quite a bit of lore on the website which may spark the interest of roleplayers and lore enthusiasts. We know you have been waiting for new lore to be added in-game and that is something we have spent a large amount of time on. We are in the final proofreading stage for the new lore and it will likely be added sometime after relics, rare timber groves, and potentially some other major items. We will see how it plays out.

New Lore Phase One - Lore Pages

Lore pages will be placed throughout Agon, many in plain sight, and many in hidden locations. Look for long winding tunnels, hard to reach places up high, and other interesting spots and you might find new lore. New entries will be written in your lore journal and if you wish, you may make an effort to collect all of the lore. Learn tips about the game from the perspective of NPCs, lost legends, ongoing plots, and much more.

New Lore Phase Two - Lore Books

Lore books will be a new type of rare item. The primary method of acquiring lore books will be hunting specific monsters or simply paying others to do it for you. Another way to acquire lore books will be to purchase them from NPCs. Lore books on average are significantly longer than lore pages and in some cases will be extremely rare.

Earn Cash by Creating Items for the Nithron Shop

We are looking for skilled artists to produce new items for the cash shop. Weapon skins, shield skins, or even skins for house items like safes or new statues. You will earn a commission of 20% of all revenue earned by your creations. Not only that, but you will be helping Rise of Agon development to continue and be bolstered further.

    Looking for Volunteer Artists

We are looking for skilled artists to create new models of weapons, staffs, and much more. If you’d like to help us out, it would be greatly appreciated. We are also interested in artists willing to create images of the deities of Agon and their holy symbols. If your work is approved we would be happy to reward you with some Nithron coins! Contact Neilk if you’re interested in creating models, and contact Billy Lee if you’re interested in creating art for the deities.

    Glyphs

Previously known as Chaos Stones, Glyphs are a component of Territory Control, one of the promised features of Embers of War. Glyphs can be teleported to via rune book allowing for easy teleportation all over Agon. This extreme convenience held great value but also greatly reduced random pvp and player sightings in the world, as most players were simply teleporting to where they needed to go. We decided that it would not suffice to leave things in that state, which is why we made glyphs capturable. When you capture a glyph you can set taxes for other players wishing to teleport to the glyph, or you can block all teleportation for those outside your clan. This has the benefit making it harder for enemy players to enter your territory and access local commodities such as high-quality enchanting materials, which in turn makes your holding more valuable. Teleportation blocking also makes things harder for your enemies during a siege, as they have fewer options to navigate the battlefield.

It is important to note that glyphs are not in their final form and we have exciting news on what is to come. Capturing glyphs in lawful areas will provide your clan with pve related buffs such as powerful damage boosts against certain monsters, such as undead, elementals, or even monsters in lawless areas, such as cairn giants. Glyphs in lawless areas will grant small pvp related bonuses, which as we know can be particularly valuable. We also plan to link player cities, hamlets, nearby captured glyphs, and villages to provide rewards for your clan such as bonus gold and rare items when farming in your area of influence.

In the short term we are looking at changes to glyphs based on the feedback we have received from the community, including making glyphs invulnerable during the clans invulnerable window, making glyphs expire after a few days so they need to be re-captured and also making it so alliances get the same benefits as being in the clan.

    Final Thoughts

We hope to provide excitement and fun to our loyal players both present and future. We know we have made mistakes along the way and we thank you for sticking by us, we will be the first to admit that we can always improve. Each day we learn more and try to make the game better and better. 2020 has lots of fun in store and we hope to see lots of new and returning players. We also cannot thank you enough for all your Nithron shop purchases, as we are a small company and every purchase, big or small, contributes to our goal as a community to making Rise of Agon the best it can be. We cannot do it without you, and you have our eternal gratitude.
