    you can't expect players to be nice without real punishment for being red. its just against human nature, without a real punishment there always will be a sociopath killing naked players at goblins. i have a friend like that, the only thing he enjoy in a pvp game is ruining other players gaming experience. and a game like darkfall is really good to attract that kind of players.

    After being trolled for weeks about build diversity not being important, and seeing lots of people quit because of it, and now seeing the poll results, any chance you guys could shed some light on your plans? I feel like my character is not special in any way and I can't play a light armored, mundane archer. I'm sticking with you guys and this game but I'd love to hear a little more about your plans in this regard.

    i wish i could have added toxicity and QUESTING/good tasks
    that and patch frequency, dev interactions

    basically... content, reasons to play, less reasons to not play

    i can already lose 500 alignement for just accidently hitting a blue player once if he dies 30 seconds later, do you REALLY need to make people lose even more alignement for things that are related to the kill? killshot alignement hit is already pretty damn high, considering the fact farming alignement is really really REALLY hard

    Well, I think the purpose of this poll thread was to simply try and get a feel for what the forum community feels are some of the most glaring issues, and have them quantified in one thread. (Instead of having to read the entire forums and taking a tally of each individual person's issue across multiple threads.

    Let's take 2 of the current top issues:

    Fluff activities and build diversification.
    There are probably 20 threads regarding each of these topics, probably started in the last 3 weeks. Most of them probably have at least 1 or 2 good ideas, followed 15 not so good ideas, but they are already out there.

    Alignment hits are a penalty for performing acts against blue players. Unless there is an alternative that will deter someone from doing it equally or more so then yes. Assists could use some adjustment, but not a reduction, more like some different calculations to determine what is considered an assist.

    The rest of the requests are great, though I have to disagree with patch frequency, unless you are implying that we patch too frequently :)

    i guess i meant frequency of patches that are meaningfull to me, so far the notable content (grind) weve got is houses, i was hoping for land towers *first patch after launch*

    Land towers? Don't think that's ever been a thing. Control towers, sure, they'll come right after vendors ;)

    The game is just too cumbersome, the portal system needs to be way more robust.

    The penalties for being red should be much worse also. Currently there are way too many wolves.

    aside from the surprise butt sex towers in blue cities that most of us red players avoid like the plague who the hell cares about alignment loss?

    the fact that we can just use a second account to trade totally bypasses the entire system.


    as far as other people issues of crying because people aren't out as much as they finish their characters:
    google advertisement
    steam launch
    twitch streamer advertisement

    (possible future)
    free to play gimic

    are all things that similar games have used that brought them a couple hundred thousand accounts.

    1. Build Diversity / Character Progress. There are literally no ways to customize neither spells, neither schools neither any aspect of your character in a meaningful way apart from choosing to go destroyer / mage or heavy hybrid. There's also no long-time character progress, it all seems like just a chore to reach whatever people mean with "endgame".
    2. Fluff activities - I wouldn't call them exactly fluff as I want mostly non-PvP related activities that can affect your character in a meaningful way.
    3. Crafting - I'd expect crafting to be like in standard MMO where you need to depend on other people. The current crafting system is meaningless and another chore that everyone is expected to go through. Taking crafting specialization should be a money making profession, not a direct gold sink to the crafter itself.
    4. Tasks - I thought they were NPE targeted feature and I am dissapointed to see "Kill X mobs" prowess like system instead.

    The problem with twitch is, stream sniping. The community is hungry for action so of course they want every advantage possible. It's frustrating for people who get stream sniped who want to share their passion and enjoyment of the game.

    *Crafting
    A lot has been done to make crafting really cool, but there's always more that can be done. I'm specifically interested in new enchant recipes that do interesting stuff. Maybe a ring of "feather-falling", which reduces fall damage much like that one passive does. Enchanting is the most unique crafting school in Darkfall, and I think it should be expanded upon.

    *Alignment
    The alignment system is a bit shallow right now. Also some really bad bugs exist. My friend was in an NPC-city, fighting against war-decced targets, and hit a clanmate by accident. The clanmate died from a wardecced target, but since my friend assisted in the death of his own clanmate, he went grey and was instantly killed by towers.

    *Group PvE
    The champions are cool, but I don't know if they are worth it yet. I heard they drop keys that can't be used for anything, so there's not much point in doing them.

    While killing Devils in DFO wasn't the hardest thing in the world, it was an interesting way to combat a really hard mob that caused a good contention spot. Hopefully more mobs like this can be added. I already have a good idea on how to kill the Champion Cairn Giant that hits for 200's in melee.

    *Questing
    The quests Darkfall currently has are a cool way to explore the world, specifically the "Kill the other races" quests. It's too bad they most-likely will make new players go red now. Also, the rewards on quests are not good enough. Some give cool things like rare ingots or runestones, but they can only be done one time. Maybe meditation rewards would help. Quests could also be used to alert the player of new content, such as exploring a new portal, the location of a new mob spawn, or a new enchanting recipe.

    I think PvP balance is at a good state, and development time spent on content is more important than changing things that are good enough.

    thats a good point, i wish darkfall was more of a streamable game, stuff like a card game, casinos in player cities (that you must pay to have), even dyes and fluff stuff, would all help retain viewers instead of the typical i run to where i want for 30 minutes(after 15 minutes of bank staring) , maybe theres someone, maybe theres noone, then i have boring pve, theyre all stuff that cant really get stream sniped either

    it the same for other similar games as well but when you pay a top name to play and put them with a vulunteer guild that helps produce content etc.... it shows a solid 20-30k people at a time the game.

    Google advertisement is by far the best though it got albion 110k accounts back in beta1.

    Steam launch and free to play gimic are just to bring in bursts of population band wagon players.

    I want stamina drain to be fixed, either add food regen to work while sprinting or remove the starting stamina loss when pressing W to help with the massive stamina drain that is ruining the game for me any many of my friends

    Build diversity (meta) and content for me. This game is extremely boring in the case there is only two viable playstyles and one isn't as viable as the other solo.

    Like I said before whenever I showed pvp videos to friends, the first thing they commented on (besides chit graphics) is why is everyone using the same armor and builds. Don't you get how boring that looks to a player coming from any other MMO or Moba?

    However the videos of unholy darkfall I showed to other players got much better reception. Why on earth you guys decided to develop this one over that one is beyond me, it has way more mass appeal. Again this is coming from players that never played Darkfall, the player you want to attract. But you choose to cater to the few hundred perma vets that won't leave regardless of what you do.

    To be honest, I don't really care about fluff content or builds (although meta theory-crafting is very fun). I just want reliable sources of PVP when I log in so I can get my adrenaline rush. So I'm casting my vote on what I think will bring the most new players.

    I'm finding fights harder and harder to come across in the last few weeks, so whatever you do just do something to get more players on the map because it's way too big for the amount playing now. If there was a vote for more population that's what i'd vote for.

    Check the current bind camping threads to see how "fun" it is to be red in game :) :) :)


    But I agree 100% the portal system could be buffed up ALOT maybe even allow them to be used from either exit or entrance.

    I kinda agree with this one, getting from Elflands -> Humanlands through portals, you have to go around the clock completely, or just run quite a distance. Going both directions would be kinda fun, and open up opportunities for pvp.
