So lets get right to it. Water mounts should be a thing. Average speed should be how fast a Water Launcher can go when done properly when sprinting and a little slower when not sprinting. Slower than a ship but good speed. These mounts should be able to dive but stamina should drain faster underwater as well as the mount moving slighly slower. You want full speed stay on the surface. Stamina should only slow regen on the surface as well. Your breath would limit time underwater but would add more tactics to water fights. Shark Mounts (Whomever thought of this I love it) should be the B-Horn version. More health and make it like a great white but a little bigger. Give it a nasty melee frontal attack. Dolphins could be the bluetail. Abit weaker with more stamina. Then do whatever. Monster Marlin, Beluga Whale Etc. Something at least the shark for now.... You could take the mob and edit it into a mount rather easily if you tried. (At least I hope so) Mounts should be limited to 1 per person and have it bindable to paperdoll. To switch the single mount type you need to replace the figurine manually. Once it dies it has a 15 minute cooldown. However make a skill so that it's a 1 min stay still channeled skill to revive it. If you lived through pvp, mount died to mob just survive that and get somewhere safe and revive. Mounts are worthless in the economy almost. Most can burn them like paper. Save the noobs a hassle and put them on the merchant for sale. The taming skill itself should not be leveled anymore. Just sell the mounts to people. All the vets have what they want and only the newer people don't. Turn it into a gold sink and prevent others from wasting time skilling taming or farming steedgrass which is another tedious waste at this point. Prices and availability of mounts should be constant. Add some regs or items to mobs that drop steedgrass and be done with it. Make it easy and simple since mounts are critical tools for anyone. Especially with any B-Hop nerf. I'd love to see mounts having little differences. War Pigs getting more health than average. Garmirs able to go up a steeper slope abit faster and maybe able to climb a little past where others can. Warhorse having more stamina slighly. Aerdin Cat turning abit faster for dodging purposes. Shulgan Drake having a better melee attack. Your drake should bite on the run if you are not leaning to the side. It should hurt Tribeland bear could have a slight mix of more health but not as much as pig and have a good frontal attack that works the same as drake while moving and not leaning and not as powerful as the drake. When you spawn a mount you should be instantly riding it. It's a QoL thing. Only noobs and idiots spawn it too far away. People in groups would need less room to mount up. Though they should still need to be packed up or they could be killed or taken and CD starts. You could make it so that stolen or forgotten horses are just left in game and will slowly bleed to death after 15 minutes of inactivity. Make a splash message if there isn't enough room mid screen to notify newbs. Though it should be default on plz add a option to turn it off for us vets. PS: Mount Attachables (Credit to Sero for bringing it up) for mounts would be nice. Saddles for better turning rates? Armor attachable would be awesome for sieges or attempting mounted combat. Carrot on a stick that you need to told out in front final fantasy style for a slight speed increase? Blinders that reduce mob aggro on mounts? Lets see some mount love pretty please.
a bit off topic but; I always thought Warhulks were a strange thing for Darkfall. I want a massive War Mammoth instead and his front attack would be what you use to smash walls down. Also add in "siege bows" like Shadowbane had so you could stand on the mammoth platform and help him fuck walls up. I also want a SIEGE BUS @Gotja so all our friends can play poker in the back while we head to the siege.
Im pretty sure I heard BPG say they don't have the capacity or know how to implement models and animations. So why bother with this request or the thousands of other suggestions for new content?
I never got that memo. I'd back off if it had 0 chance of being done. I'm hoping even without a cool melee attack they can take the shark in game for the animation maybe increase the size change, attach a saddle and modify it into a working water mount. Water Hop is tedious at best so water mounts would be a great solution IMO and with the B-Hop nerf I think mounts need some attention.. Especially limiting people to 1 mount per person. So you can prepare to be a water fighter or roam on land but not switching between both without a bank visit. Let the sea pirate/wayfarer have an escape hatch vs guys on land and limit them from easily escaping on land if someone brings out a ship and chases them down. Increase the health of mounts abit overall or even make it the same as a character. It's slower and an easier target than any water launcher or B-Hopper . Should Make default mounts health close to B-Horn current health. Bhorns should be 1.5 of current. Lets bring back mounts that could do mounted combat and still limit the amount of mounts carried. I really like the idea of making figurines non drop on the paperdoll requiring manuel switching. Could make them each 500kg unless on the one open paperdoll slot lol. When equipped weight reverts to normal to prevent carrying others? This idea obviously needs to be refined abit more. Death CDs and a skill to channel to revive so we don't need to bring extra B.S if you live you carry on and if you died start again.
I am all for the Shark Mount. SHARKKKKKK MOUNTSSSSSSS. https://forums.darkfallriseofagon.com/threads/shark-mounts.8153/ - you can honor me the shark mounts here. --- Post updated --- Supposedly they can now. Additionally. Sharks are ALREADY In the game.
surely that could be done with a reskin though right? even if it was just a catapult type of change rather than an animal
no no I meant the war hulks not sharks heh --- Post updated --- actually add some color and that ain't so bad
There's a ton of new models already in the game quite a few staves got redesigned, all the portals, papyrus etc. And all the champion weapons coming next patch.
This is sick, I would love to ride one of these around Sanguine. --- Post updated --- Yeah, I think he was talking about animations. But I am pretty sure you guys have that ability now as well right?
Also can we get a method to regain some mount health and stamina while moving (not sprinting) Maybe feed the horse a carrot for a food buff effect on the mount itself? Could do the same for water mounts if they were added via seaweed... Or you could make craftable mount snacks with various effects if you wanted to go hog wild.
Man people running forever is never going to not happen. We already have it and it'll always be a thing. The real difference I argue and always will is Mounts are larger targets, slower than a full momentum B-Hopper and right now they are weaker than a player. They can still dodge and frankly me shooting and them dodging even if I lose is a billion times more satisfying than B-Hopping after someone losing health I shouldn't be losing. If others are shooting with me it gets even easier to get the prick. While hes dodging someone else might be coming up behind me sprinting on his mount. The game would be more fun and less harassment. Best defense for B-Hop I've seen is "What about the solo player?". Stop raiding hornet nests and maybe play with others in a MMO. A slow regen that worked outside combat would help people traveling. It takes damage the stats should stop regenerating.
Just because there is potential for people running forever, doesn't mean it should be made so easy it is almost always the outcome of a fight. Thanks very much for describing the exact tactic that should be used to kill bunnyhoppers. Maybe some POSITIONING, and TACTICS, should be used to set a trap for bunnyhoppers. As for the OP: Shark mounts have always been a thing the community wanted. Anything to spice up water combat, that shit is pure cancer (and the removal of waterhopping doesn't help that situation) No - mounts should definitely not be put on a merchant... Like... never ever should that be a thing. How about we take a look at the taming skill and work on making the profession more enticing, as well as making mounts harder to craft... double the steedgrass, add in some saddles, gold cost... etc. as to make them not burnable, and actually have some value. Does anyone else not miss the value of DFO Bluetails? another misplay /sigh
The more available it is to casuals, baddies etc the more will enjoy this game. Limiting key travel mechanics to those who can do them well is not a good strategy for a MMO that need population. You people keep pretending the people who kill weak players at the edge of a city, at a spawn near a city, or maybe a crafter or someone not paying close attention inside a city (sometimes towers don't go off as a warning if they know the layout well) don't run as soon as the very first guy gets anywhere near. They start running and hopping. We all know these people are very hard to stop unless someone is lucky enough to get the guy B-Hopping straight at them or straight away from them which is rare as ice in hell. So you want people to sit out away in potential retreat paths to hopefully cut the harasser off? Do that once and they start using other directions. How many people should waste their day to deal with this in your opinion? 3? 5? 10? 1 guy wasting 1 other guys time is bad enough let alone anything like that. People responding to harassers believe or not want to do something other than guard a wall or a spot in the middle of nowhere during their free time that day. You people act like we should be grateful we're being harassed and deal with it. You act like this game should be our entire life and trudge through all the B.S no matter how deep it gets. If this was real life I'd set booby traps and dig spike pits and I'd deal with it. This is a fucking game. We either make it fun for most or it dies again. At least with mounts chasers wouldn't be sacrificing health for potential ambushes and we could get straight to the ducking/dodging aspects. I would not give one damn if you got away while dodging. Since they are not moving really fast we'd have more time to aim and more spells would be launched. We can't move fast without solo B-Hop if that ever happened. We're limited as the chaser as well. So if they succeed in dodging etc INSTEAD OF PRAYING they don't get hit while finding the best clear path to hop on. I would be more than happy with that. As for mounts being on a vendor if people were limited to 1 mount on them at any time how would it matter? Easy access is a bad thing for newbs or casuals? Would it tank the economy? Whens the last time you knew a vet know really wanted to sell or buy Steedgrass? Attachable Mount Items and such would be pretty cool but those could still be added later. I just want to remove as many annoying elements from a new players experience as we can without breaking core game play. PS: You should check out section 8 and 10 of my B-Hop needs another approach thread. If we can solve the main issues my suggested B-Hop is pretty veteran friendly and if we can't solve the issues the mechanics would still exist but we'd need teamwork to accomplish them. Come join the discussion.
Marketplace will essentially fix the issue you have with mounts being accessible without ruining a profession and creating items out of thin air. Honestly, I'm so over the arguing about bunnyhopping. The fact that you seem to have a problem with bunnyhop harassers is just evidence of your lack of skill, because I've never played with anyone that has had this problem. Seriously, even if the guy does hop away, right away, all you have to do is have 1 or 2 guys sit behind the wall for 2 minutes while he comes back and start stickybacking him as soon as he hops the wall, and then the guy is dead and has to spend another 30 minutes regearing and coming back to your city. Guess what, if he keeps having to do that, he's going to become demoralized, and not want to even bother coming back. I mean holy shit the damn chiners figured this out back when I was suicide running into ghanalaj every 10 minutes. Furthermore, how are you even getting this level of harassment unless you're sitting AFK in your city all day? Yes bunnyhopping is a tad OP. Yes new players have to learn it or get wtfowned. No this is not a bad thing, and no changes to bunnyhopping aren't going to make the game better or magically bring back population. So once again, how about we look at things that need to be changed to ensure the success of the game, before we start changing the specific mechanics of skills/combat balance: - Separation of noobs and vets This immediately will tackle the argument you presented. If noobs are in a safe area, they aren't constantly being harassed by vets who can bunnyhop like champs. I'm pretty sure everyone can agree that the seperation of noobs and vets is imperative to this games success, and will help with, not only the issues you presented, but tons more. - Customization/Specialization of skills Again, something else that is becoming more and more detrimental to the games success. No one knows how BPG plans to go about this (Pretty sure they do plan it), but changes to the accessibility of the utility skill set will also work wonders when it comes to your issue. What if your harassers no longer had stormblast? eye rot? pungent? confusion? They would become a lot easier to catch. You really need to stop focusing on issues that are effecting you, and start turning your attention to core issues. - If you're actually complaining that you need to spend all day chasing someone because they can bunnyhop, but then use mount chases as an argument for your case of fun, you need to rethink that. Seeing as how a mount chase is just two people constantly going the same speed, one never catching the other, and in order to catch the other you need to drop your mount, in which case he is now going faster than you. - Mount chases? If you chase someone down on a mount while they are bunnyhopping, your stats are full, and his are constantly being drained, it's pretty hard to lose that fight. This is highly possible barring terrain, especially with the mount speed changes. - No you should definitely not be grateful for being harassed. It should be a clear sign that something is wrong however, if you are constantly being harassed. And the something is wrong, is not bunnyhopping. - If you cut someone off with their main direction of bunnyhopping, they shouldn't just use a different direction... they should be dead. And you really don't need to "waste your day" to kill 1 guy - again, a playerskill issue, especially if you have a hornet nest at your disposal. - There is a lot of CC available to stop people from getting away from you, start using it. But I'll go ahead, and play devil's advocate for you: Let's say bunnyhopping isn't a factor, and you can no longer just "poke the hornet's nest". What this does is make it so anyone attacking a city brings more than they originally did, which means their numbers will be relatively equal to yours, and seeing as how you are having some serious issues catching and killing a single player while he's bunnyhopping to practically no stats, chances are your day is still going to be ruined when he comes around with people who are still better than you, except this time, he won't be running away, they'll be killing your entire clan, and taking your shit, putting you further in the hole and making it harder for your clan to gear properly. Hows that for wasting your day? The one argument for this VS the later is: It's more fun to get shitcanned/frusturated as a clan then to get frustrated because you're all incapable of catching a single player, which in the end is just a subjective opinion. Bunnyhopping doesn't need to be changed - Bad players and good players need to be seperated. WTB High sec (/tapsfoot waiting for kilrain)
