What will titles from tasks do?
Make you seem like a badass or a neckbeard. One of those two.
So it's like a visual "title" near your name when someone targets you? Nothing more? Can one get something like "Dwarfslayer" title killing dwarfs so it would work same way as enchant or something actually meaningful?
My understanding of it from Alpha was that it would not have any combat impact, but more like bragging rights for completing some kind of set of events.
I dunno, if there's no advantage from them even in PvE, it sounds like quite meaningless. I'll wait for a sneak-peek from the devs or just patch notes to judge though.
I want to be Beargrim the Dragonslayer because I hate dragons. They hurt my neck from looking up at the sky for 30 minutes at a time.
At least we can look up at the sky.
( dumbass UW)
Haha, I just got a flashback to a siege in DFUW at Vinterhein. I got told to watch this big elevator so I'm at the top. Then I hear transfers, but I can't look straight down at the elevator lol. SO I have to run away to get an angle that I could see down far enough from, but by that time they were at the top with like 20 guys lol... fail.
LOL. I didn't play UW, sounds amazing.
Why did they not let you look up or down in UW? What was their explanation?
I really wish they'd put it titles that are mutually exclusive from one another.
Id est, you may apply one and only one title that provides some kind of PvE/Crafting benefit.
The Studious - Decrease scroll crafting costs.
The Wise - Adds a bonus to staff durability and damage(up to a maximum for each individual staff).
The Precise - Adds a bonus to bow durability and damage.
The Annealer - Adds a bonus to armor durability, protections, and encumbrance.
Probably because there were no "feet" down there. Just like DF1. They did a lot of aesthetic things like that that hurt the game play. Such as the animation for turning your mouse made it seem like your character like rotating his hips and rotate strafing. So the animations in combat looked absolutely ridiculous.
It'd be cool if there was a title for not dying for X amount of time. Ganking that person would be ever so satisfying.
The initial plan is for the titles to be merely that - titles that you unlock that you can put in front of your name/etc.
That said, that does not mean we do not want to expand on what those titles can do or implement future tasks with more unique titles, and this is more of a discussion we can have when we open up the design thread on this (which we will be doing for a few of the features we are working on).
OH MY GOD. I played Lord of the Rings Online for like four months every day. Never made it to max level because I spent the entire play time trying to reach level 40 without dying for the title.
I would like to have added benefits for the titles. Perhaps they could even be used as a form of specialization.
please thiw game claims for diversity
thats a hard task considering balance but... do that.
