To be completely honest... The population does seem higher right now and there have been some nice fixes/additions lately, but if there was something that made you quit playing last time, chances are it is still there. Always good to have returning players though, regardless. Check out the heatmap on the site.

Population was on a significant rise the past two weeks, it was great. However the past 3-4 days has seen a significant drop off, for example Defiance/Blackwater have stopped showing at villages / logging in. May be worth a look but still in the same state as when you left previously.
Eu pop picking up and is pretty decent. NA is pretty active but few people are willing to risk pvp without guarantee win. A lot of egos have been getting obliterated lately. Everyone recording fights now days if you lose it’s going in a video. Can get some good solo duo fights Eu time at vcp. NA is hit or miss for fair fights. Been selling and trading plenty of stuff on the market.
The developers certainly haven't added any value to the game, but Corona has caused a large uptick in population. So.... we have until the shutdowns end to enjoy it for a bit.
It shows there is an interest in the game still. people want to play but are put-off when PVP is too hard to come by. VCPs work for now while everyone is in quarantine but it will get old, especially for groups that don't find themselves winning the VCP fights often. You guys need to be working on things that generate PVP outside of VCPs and implementing it before this uptick in population ends with quarantines coming to an end around the world. Its a positive sign though that people have chosen to play Darkfall with the free time quarantine has forced on them. But it also hints that in regular life that old core Darkfall audience doesn't have the time to commit to the game that is required anymore (we aren't predominantly all teens and college students anymore). Bank wipes (force people to farm again) Fix Sieges to be more accessible. Cities can be 24hour timers, hamlets should be much more frequent (4hour siege timer?) Also tower damage can stay as high as it is, but you should not be able to repair any buildings once your city/hamlet is sieged, so if a tower is broken its out til the siege is over. Shrink the map. Look at how many worthless, unclaimed holdings there are. With the plat upkeep now no one will claim the worthless ones.
Its free to play atm, so Have a look, depending on what time of day you play might be a lot of small scale or large scale just depends on time
